Jason Cameron: Building a bar into existing architecture is great way to maximize space. To make a built-in bar, you first want to frame out the open. Next, we’re going to construct a simple platform for the components to sit on. We use plywood and 2 x 4s.
Then you want to run 2 x 4 nailers on the inside of the wall which will serve as a base for the bar top to sit on. You should attach the 2 x 4s to the existing studs for maximum stability. Next, bring in the components that will sit underneath the bar and lay in your top.
This is when this thing really comes to life. Just wanting to put the cabinet and all the rough carpenters done, we’re putting the trim on is really what sets this off.
You may not be able to get behind this bar but that is not really a bad thing because now you have more room for all kinds of fun.
