Now, sometimes a light fixture is just not enough detail in a room. So we increase the architectural elements in this space by adding a ceiling medallion, costs as less $50, and it only took us a couple of hours to do. Now if you want to see this transform, stick around. These medallions come in so many different sizes, shapes, styles and materials. Now what I want this medallion to do, is dress up an already existing area. Now if you have a look down here, this is the bamboo finish, which I think would look really good, if this was an exterior room, or somewhere where you'd have some tanned furniture, something like that.
Now the next selection we have is what a bronze type of fixed medallion, which is fantastic if you had bronze accessories. So what we are working with here is a brass nickel chandelier. So this bronze finish is not going to work, which leads me to this one. What that's going to do is have a real contrast with this very modern looking light. It really accents the rest of the architectural details. So you know what, that's it, that's my pick.
Spray paint is much thinner than the actual paint that comes off a brush. Now if I will just use a brush and try and paint this, I would lose some of the unique design. Try and pick an accent color that's already in the room. Now we are actually going to paint this ceiling white, because we want to design speak for itself. Fifteen minutes and I am done with the top coat. So that's the new play to put in place. I took off this old square one. I put a nice round one that's going to blend in very well with our new ceiling medallion.
Now all we have is some glue, it's a quick grab glue. It goes off very quickly. I am going to run it around the perimeter of the medallion, and put it in the place like that. Then I am going to come along with the nail gun, put a couple of pins in it, just to hold until the glue dries, and you know what? That's two hours, and I think this has been our quickest project so far.
So we use the medallion to dress up our chandelier, you can get medallions that don't have the center cut out and you could put them in middle of the room, just it's an accent piece. Now we want this to be seamless, and as you can see the ceiling is actually uneven, so little bit of cork applied to all the trouble. This was a plain boring ceiling, now with the ceiling medallion in place, it's got sophistication and class. I think we really did a great job of giving this chandelier an accent. And it only cost us $44 and took us half a day, believe it or not.
