Security is something that we really concern about around the home today especially with valuables like computers, and jewelry and backyard entrances underneath the enclosures or balconies as we have here. Yes, you can protect doors which you have glass, with security grills to stop that intruder from breaking the glass going down and unlocking the door. But, by putting the grills sure you will stop that, but you cannot stop that intruder by very simply putting the boots to the door.
Now, you see what happened here when the boot was put to the door. First of all, the lock set itself has broke away, the deadbolt has broke away, the door is completely split wide open, but look at the jam, in both cases completely blowing right out and just no security at all and the door goes wide open.
Now, the effort is going to have to be placed on a product that can be put on the frame that is going to stop that initial impact and the door going wide open. Here we have the new door and frame, and as you can see there has been a choice made for a venting window unit. Now, the venting window unit also has a Lexington glass, which is security. So therefore, you are not going to break that whatsoever.
But, the security really is in the door and the frame as far as we are concerned in this case, because the deadbolt once it comes thru the receiving plate through the jam, as you can see here it just projects right on through the jam being only three quarter inch of wood. Does not really give an often lot of security, the latch set once it comes through the striker plate it does not even projects through the three quarter inch wood of the jam so, very little security there.
