How to Install a Home Theater
Hello, my name is Keith Harmon with Smart Wired Home and we’re here today to talk about how to select and install a high definition home theater. So some I’ve been doing for well since puberty, when I’ve been helping people out installing my own systems, helping my friends and family with installing various home technologies, including home theaters and been, Smart Wired Home has been around for about three years installing these kinds of systems. So, what are we gonna talk about today? Here we’ve got first of all, our introduction and then we’re gonna talk about how do you select the correct television screen that or many people think that selecting the big screens, you just get a big TV and that’s a home theater. But that’s not what it’s all about. Certainly that is a major component but another major component is the sound. So you’ve got to have the right audio environment and have the right sources. So when we start talking about sources, we look at selecting a DVD player which is one of the decisions you’re going to have to make. Another one is selecting the surround sound receiver. How are you gonna take that surround sound that’s supposed to come from all the different directions and process that, put it around the room and have that go to the right speakers that you select. Making those speakers work together with the surround sound receiver really gives you that theater like experience. Next, we’ll look at home theater in a box. How do we look at this is an option to reduce a number of things you have to buy and probably the most important things that, is selecting a remote. I know a lot of you think, Oh comes with the remote, this one controls 37 devices, isn’t that great? Well, yeah it’s great if you can use it and if your spouse can use it and if your kids can use it. I know sometimes it’s like the only kids can use it. But the point is, is that having a good integrated remote is what’s gonna make this whole thing easy for your use and make you happy in the end. Now that you’ve got a whole house full or room full of boxes and equipment and everything else, how are we gonna make it all work? Connecting it up, kinds of cables, specific kinds of cables that you’re going to need and making it all work for you and your home environment. So, that’s what we’re gonna talk about. So, on we go.
