Welcome to Truckblog.TV. I am Chris Duke and today we are going to install a Magnaflow 3-inch cat back exhaust system on our project vehicle 2005 F150 pick up truck. Let us get started.
Now the normal circumstances when you had have this thing lifted up, you can just take the exhaust off, but since we are doing a garage installation, we are going to have it cut it off to get it out and for that, we are going to use the Milwaukee sawzall.
There you go. It is peeing all over me too. Here it comes. This is the last piece, here it comes. Yeah!
Alright, I am going to remove the stock, pulley and clamp, it is 5/8-inch deep socket. If you would sponsor truckblog with some ear tools, please contact us. There it goes. One more push. Nothing is going to drop. Alright two more pushes. There it goes, three, two, one! Bam! Game over, muffler.
Alright, we got the muffler, here is the source of frustration, but it is kind of hard to see this because ford kind of hides it on the back side of the muffler, but this little guide is right here. If you try to push this through the hanger, it is going to stop it on that. So, the way to remove it is you get in there and you open that with your fingers and thing slides off and I will put it right here so you could see it. Now it slides off, and this thing comes out finally, remember that.
Right now we have got a stock exhaust kit uninstalled from a ref 150 and now returning the Magnaflow to see what we got to put back on. There is four pieces to this exhaust kit. This is applied to go into the catalytic converter extension, comes in two sizes; there is a 24-inch right and there is an 18, 24 is for older 2004 model F150. We are not using that one. We are going with this kind. Next piece is the muffler of course, it got a till pipe extension and then the till pipe itself. With a nice exhaust tip well right in there.
Here is the 18-inch intermediate pipe we are going to connect that to the stock catalytic converter extension. This piece cannot go on the stock hanger, just like that. We will add more muffler here. Bring him up. So more like that. Get on to rotate and we are going to leave everything kind of loose. So we are all done. And we will tighten everything up.
Alright, now, we have got the muffler on. You put the tail pipe extension on. You are going to 04:30 pipe extension up over the rear axle. Put the bracket on and put that over the muffler and this goes into the rubber hanger. We have a little bit of a delay here with this particular hanger would not go through so we had detached it from the truck, then take it over to advise and get it on that way. It would not go through. So we got one more to go. Hopefully we will not have same problem later.
For the final piece of our summary detailed pipe, so this one goes on next. At this point we have got the stock, the 05:39 completely removed, then the Magnaflow exhaust is hung and ready to be tightened. Now Magnaflow recommends about a half-inch of clearance around the entire till pipe and down here, we are going to give a good inch to yourself on this body panel. And now, we are going to tighten it up and test it out. I have got a nine 16-inch socket, it is a deep socket and we are going to start tightening and it goes up starting from the rear.
I have not mentioned it before, I love the 06:12 here for Truckblog shop. Potential sponsors can go to www.truckblog.com. You can contact us for types of stuffs in, get hold of those 06:31. We have got everything tightened up. We are going to go fired up. Get it off this ramps, take it for a test drive and see how she sounds.
