Hi, my name is Don and this is Cooper my partner. We’re going to show you how to re-screen the screen. We’re going to actually going to start the process today by rolling the screen material over the top of the screen frame. You want to make sure that you have plenty of over hang around all four sides of the screen.
Next step we’re going to do is we’re going to use the existing screens spline that came out of the screen because it’s not damaged. What Cooper is doing now is pushing the screen material down into the screen frame and what this does is to kink the screen material, so you have a pre-existing terming spot where you’re going to start.
So, actually going to take the screen rolling tool which has a convex end on it to push the screen material in and start rolling it towards them. We find that it works best if you pull the screen material towards you along with the screen tool. You’ll feel it flowing right into the actual screen frame.
So, we’re complete on this side and we’re going to start at the bottom part now and what you want to do is lay the screen material out as you go along. At this point, we’re going to take the utility knife and cut the bulk of the screen material off of the roll.
You can also take a flathead screwdriver to help push the screen material down into the corners. It’s a little easier than a roller. You want to make sure that the corners are nice and tight because that’s where the screen is going to pull out if something pushes up against the screen.
At this point what we’re going to do is trim off the excess screen spline. It has a tendency to stretch as you’re re-screening. Just making sure that the corners are tight, push it back down on a flathead screwdriver. And then we’re going to take the utility knife and cut off the excess screen material to the outside edge of the screen frame. You don’t want to ruin everything you just did so this is a perfect time to take a little bit of time and care.
Once you have the screen material, remove the excess. You have a nice finished screen. Next we’re going to talk about adjusting a sliding glass door.
