Hi! I am Dave; I am with 4wheelparts in Redondo Beach 4wheelparts retail center. Today we are going to be showing you out easy to install a Pace Edwards bedlocker tonneau cover. Our first step after taking the main castor out of the box for packing material is to place it on in the truck. You can use a couple of boxes to support it and you can use the box that came with it. So it sets just a couple of inches about the backrest.
This is a premium old top headliner that come within automatic remote operated motor so you can actually open and close it without having to do it manually. To get this in here we are going to take the wire that is only the hardest that comes in the kit, we are going to step it down the driver side for stake pocket so it comes out of the bottom and middle of the truck. So you get the wire out there, we will then come back to that, go get to the battery.
We are going to leave ourselves about a foot of jeep here, so we come back to when we plug it into final steps. We don't want the topper to go back into the canister. So we are just going to take it manually pull it out just a little bit so we have a little bit hang in here, so it just quick flow back in side.
Out next step is to install the side rails, this is probably a two man job being aware of a Canister along to the rail. The rail is going to be both the -- for the actual Tonneau cover as well as it supports the canister. You start by taking the whole top and we are going to slide it into the groove, holding with the canister, we are then also going to take the extrusion and long enough to get the rail that's holding canister. So it's a support that's rock solid.
So once we have the rails applied with the canister as well as the tonneau cover we are then just going to slide it forward until it stops. Now I will do the another side. Here we are lining first with the roll top, then we are lining with the channels the channel that holds the canister. Now the rails are on the roll top and also on the canister, we are going to lift the canister, pull out our support box and then all the canister will rest on rails.
What's just left is to get the rails and our sliding canister all the way forward until it gets to the front of that. Well we secured the rails of the clamps we are going to measure across lined up with a very back edge of this canister towards a very fixed point, we are going to measure across for one rail to the other and then just slightly over, about 61 and 61 and a 8, that's what I want to be parallel all the way down. This tonneau kit will come with shims to install the tonneau cover rails perfectly in any truck.
You are going to want to take this shims replace it on the bed rail or between the bed rail and the actual truck inside of the bed. I want to put down right next to the canister level, the canister is not in a secured level by the clamps, the clamps also --. There is an adhesive back of the shims that you can place it there and come back while you are sliding your clamps on. You don't want to take your clamps out of the back right up the extrusions and then just the take the front clamp which because this bed is wider in the front, we are going to go with the longer clamp.
See the difference between two clamps here, this is what I mean by the longer since the bed is wider this clamp has to go out further. If you are determining how much shim we need to use, really it's again this part of the tonneau cover that you wantto measure by is that's where it's going to fix on the canister. So you are really going to figure out based on how much gap is there between the rail and the bed. At that point you just try to make parallel with that.
Before we tighten the clamps we want to make sure that before the tail gate or maintain gap between a tail gate and the back of the rail about an 8th of an inch. Now that we have the rails and the canister in and we have the bolts tighten and it's aligned we are going take the lead that we had left in the truck earlier and we are going to connect it to the corresponding lead that's on the canister. Plug it in, and now we go to the front of the truck see --
In the case of a loss of power or if the motor doesn't seem to be working you will use a plastic handle that releases clamps to motor, it has a plastic kick stand behind, and the handle out. At this point we can manually pull the cover out and push it back in. so after we run the harness up to the engine compartment we have connected the positive negative leads of the battery. I have replaced the fuse now and we are ready to check and see if this is going to work.
Alright moment of truth now we going to check it works properly. Check to see if -- anymore looks like it's working speedly. Check the tail gate seal, make sure that the -- looks like it works out perfectly. Thanks for watching install video bedlocker Pace Edwards tonneau cover.
