This project is going to be installing a Super Sprint Race muffler on an E-46 M3. We're going to have installation procedure and before and after sound clips. Now that you have heard the before sound clips we put our E-46 M3 upon the lift our project now is going to be to replace the exhaust system.
The hanger points on this car there is a factory hanger point on the far right. And there is two factory hangers on the far left. The two inlet pipes come into the muffler on the left side and they factory seals and bolts on the ground we've go the Super Sprint Race muffler replacement. Same basic hanger locations, you put your factory mounts on to this hangers and then you lift the whole unit up into the car.
I am going to slip the factory connecting pipe into these tubes you use the factory seals, and bolt it up just like the factory unit. You'll notice also that this considerably lighter than the factory unit when we get the original muffler off the vehicle you are going to see that difference.
Now if you look at the difference here there is a substantial size difference between the Super Sprint and the factory muffler, we're going to weight this piece later on but I am thinking that's well over 45 pounds.
We're going to do now is fit the Super Sprint Exhaust on to the M3 and what we should before is to first get our pipe line here. We're going to get our muffler into the body cavity align this thrust pipe get it to slip on and then we are going to go for the two mounts over here, put on a single neck and then we can work with our alignment.
So we have got the muffler attached to the vehicle securely with the hangers, now if you come underneath here I still have the sealing ring one of the sealing rings is part of the pipe and it slips in to the number one tube the second one just gets a Crushering in between it.
So what I am going to do to get that to fit. I'll put a Pry Bar in between the two pieces everything still lose I am just going to make a little bit of a twist there, so I can slip that ring in between there and then once I hit center it'll pretty much center itself and then we can turn around and just put the original bolts back on the flanges adjust every thing we got make sure our tail tips are correct which we have not done yet but we'll do that and once we got every thing got aligned correctly we'll walk these two pipes down.
