Installing a Yard Tool Rack
Hi, I am Mark Donovan from HomeAdditionPlus.com, and today I’m going to show you how to replace an old wood yard tool dark-colored with fixed brackets, with this new adjustable channel system allows you to put in brackets that can adjust along the length of the channels.
So, the first thing we got to do is we’re going to remove all these old tools. Next, I’m going to remove the wooden frame structure by using a piece of scrap material and my hammer and just pull it away from the wall. Be very careful not to mark the wall.
Next, I am positioning the tracks system with the height on the wall such as the longest yard tool will hang from it and not touch the bottom of the garage. I’m making a mark on one end and I will measure that distance and then repeat that measurement on the far side of the channel system.
So now, I’m attaching the channel to the wall. I’m attaching it with 2-inch screws, placed 6 inches apart such as that they lined with the wall studs. You want to make sure your screws into the wall studs or be sure your yard tool rack will follow up the wall.
I’ve also put a level on top just to make sure that indeed I am leveled from the far left to the far right hand side and just using a screw gun to attach the screws to the wall stud.
The nice thing about this channel track is it’s made up of hard plastic type material. So, you cut it then you saw. My recommendation is instead of marking it on the front surface, mark it on the back of it, towards a nicely surface area across the back just to achieve a nice more uniform clean-cut.
So, with our final board cut and temporarily tack it in place on one end with a screw. We’ll place our final screw in and we’ll be ready to attach the brackets.
So now, attaching the brackets through the channel system and again these are nicely attached brackets so that they can be adjusted and place anywhere along or if you want to screw it down probably there are some poles where you can screw it faster on permanent locations when the channel is up.
They also come in a variety of different types of brackets. There are some long ones; there are some small wide items such as rakes on the shelves arm rack. So, the brackets in place, I’ve attached my tools to the brackets and as you can see much needed, much better than what I have before.
Now again, these brackets are adjustable, however they do lock down into place. They’re not going to slide on you, and in addition you can screw them in. In addition to bracket extended tools, far enough away from the ship bracket they’re not going to mark your walls.
In my case, I’ve taken at the bottom here, so the tails of the tools on the bottom the tools, don’t rub up against the walls and mark the walls.
