Hello and welcome to Truckblog.TV. I am Chris Duke and today we are going to install and today we are going to install an airaid intake kit which is going to give us an additional plain 1 horsepower on our project vehicle of 2008 GMC ucon 5.3 liter. Let us check out the parts.
As you can see the stock intake kit on this GM truck is highly restricted with this beegle closed box, so airaid engineered this solution to solve the problem and that includes this heat shield right here, the pure oil filter. It has big intake to bunch of adaptors and hoses and clamps and all you need to install are a couple of common tools like this socket wrenches, install it with screwdriver and an Allen wrench. Let us get started with the installation.
First thing we need to do is we need to get this beauty covers off and get to the rest of the intake. And to do that, what I am going to do is lift up on the front of it, pull it forward, and there it is. Now, we are going to disconnect this breather hose from the valve cover and it just pops off, like that.
Now, we got to remove the factory intake tube and radiator hose from the subway and the way to do that is you just press down on this hose and it pops off, that is it. Now we have loosened up this factory intake tube right here. We have got three clamps that we need to loosen up, one is over here and the other two are located over here. All you need to do now is a simple flat-pointed screwdriver. Now we have got these tubes disconnected, we can remove the stock intake tube from the mass airflow sensor right here by puffing that off. This will of some way kind of twist up and pops off the engine just like that, pretty easy.
Now we have the got the intake tube off the engine, we are going to remove the mass airflow sensor, which I just got right here. We already loosened this clamp, so we will just going to twist this, take it off and set it aside.
Now, we are going to remove the factory airbox and the way to that is just grab a hold of it, rock it back and forth, grab it, pull it out. Now, we are going to remove our factory airbox mounting plate, which is connected with these four 10-mm bolts. This is our last bolt here, there is the mounting point. Now, we are going to put together these two panels of this cold air dam using five 3/16-inch screws.
Now that we have tightened up all the screws on our cold air dam, we are going to install this filter adaptor right here with these three quarter inch bolts with an Allen wrench.
Now, we have got our cool air dam fully assembled. We can put it in where the factory airbox was. We are going to use these four 6-mm bolts to do it. I recommend just do not overtighten these bolts.
We have got the cool airbox secured down, I am going to attach the mass airflow sensor to this filter adaptor with the stock clamp. Then this hump hose here is going to go on the mass airflow sensor, tighten down, just the clamp that is on the mass airflow sensor.
Next, install barbed fitting into the intake tube. Now we have installed this barbed fitting here, we are going to take urethane couple here; we are going to install it in the throttle body end of this tube with the hose clamp.
Now, we are going install the tube onto the hump hose and the throttle body. Now we are going to tighten both clamps. We have got the airraid intake assembly fully installed, we need to task this airraid supply breather hose from the factory port down here that we originally detached. You pull in the hose down up to the tube. That is it.
Now, we are going to install the airraid filter onto the filter adaptor right inside here and tighten the clamp. Now we are going to install this leather strip onto the top of the cold air dam starting over here with the side of the fender and looping around. So here, right after you tighten everything up, you want to reinstall the beauty cover. Just make sure that these two spots here on the bottom of the beauty cover are lined with these two posts. What we are going to do is to reinstall it, just slide it in, watch out for all the hoses, line it up, and press down. Installation is all done. Let us fire it up and see how these thing sounds like.
Now, we just finished the installation of our airraid intake kit on our GMC Ucon. Installation was easy and it sounds great. Best of all, we got to get rid of this thing that is right here.
That does it for this show. For more information, go to www.airraid.com and for more episodes of Truckblog.tv, Go to Truckblog.TV.
