Everyone is impressed when you throw the ball behind your back. This takes a little bit more practice. Again, start with one ball and when you throw it behind your back and over the opposite shoulder, make sure your hand does not hit your back. You would not get a clean that way. Release over the opposite shoulder.
Just like the other tricks, practice over the shoulder behind the back tricks with just two balls. You do not want to throw it to the outside of your body like that. you want to try to get over the shoulder and into your hand. Keep in mind; if you are going to drop a lot, it takes awhile for your body to get used to exactly when to release the ball, where to throw it and where to catch it. When you hit that brick wall of frustration, take an hour, take a day whatever it takes and come back refreshed to try again. Once you get the right hand, you can try it with the left hand.
Now we are ready to try it with three balls. I am going to start with the yellow balls both from my right hand, over the top, over the shoulder, behind the back. I am throwing the ball before a little bit higher to buy myself some time to catch it, but eventually, you want to bring it down so that you do not have to change your pattern much. Start it from, the right, try it from the left, right, left, right, left.
In addition to throwing a ball behind the back over the opposite shoulder, it is also effective to throw it over the same shoulder. We catch it in the same hand we threw it from. This is from my right hand, to my right hand. Again, like behind your back, you do not let your hand hit your back. It is just a matter of practicing and practicing and practicing until you get a good throw. You can combine a lot of different throws behind your back for an effective juggling routine.
