David Sheinkopf: The last time I was here it was hot, barren and there was no relief from the sand, but now, what an amazing transformation. Hi, I’m David Sheinkopf with Lowes Creative ideas.
Leslie Sadler: And I’m Leslie Sadler. We came up with a lot of unique ideas. Get stand in a Sunday outside and really enjoying your own backyard. Let’s go back and see how it all came together.
Dan Sudd: This house since it’s a corner lot, the sun beats down on it from the time it invites it in the morning till it sets in the evening.
Leslie Sadler: Dan and Sandy they begin with the really kind of isolated from the isolated from the backyard there’s no way to really get out there from inside the house. Would you be open if we’re taking this window out? We print in some French stores and developing car an access to the outside.
Sandy Sudd: Yeah.
Dan Sudd: I think that will be great.
Leslie Sadler: And maybe kind of coming out the same level of the anterior room just build the deck out here.
Sandy Sudd: I like that idea.
Leslie Sadler: David, remember you said, “Direct stocking.”
David Sheinkopf: Wow! This is so cool.
Leslie Sadler: Did you like it?
David Sheinkopf: This is direct stocking. It’s made of recycled composites. It doesn’t squinter. It doesn’t fade. It doesn’t even need to be stint.
Leslie Sadler: And I love this product from Lowes because its low maintenance, it’s long lasting and comes in so many colors so you can choose your own palette. Look we used it over here for the pergola. What are you saying?
David Sheinkopf: This pergola turned out great.
Leslie Sadler: Is it cool?
David Sheinkopf: Pergola, and for one who doesn’t know. Can you tell what a pergola is?
Leslie Sadler: Sure, it’s just really a fancy name for some shades. You know, sometimes you see vines growing on top but we use this really cool all weathered fabric for much more colorful and creative approach to shade.
David Sheinkopf: You turn that awesome.
Leslie Sadler: Did you like it?
David Sheinkopf: Yeah.
Leslie Sadler: You know the cool thing is the plants are unlike so if you want to make one go to LowesCreativeIdeas.com. If we can’t be here and it’s using the same truck of material and creating kind of a bench area here, you know what else we can do on the bench if you want. We’ve actually make up some tiles where you can be more comfortable on the bench too.
David Sheinkopf: There are so many potting plants of choices at Lowes. This is really unusual. It seems that you’ve gone a totally different directions.
Leslie Sadler: We’ve really did David. This is actually just a galvanized metals storage bin.
David Sheinkopf: Really?
Leslie Sadler: And we painted it with it and drill some holes underneath for drainage and it’s very effective.
David Sheinkopf: I love the rocks here it’s growing.
Leslie Sadler: Once we can have the overall architecture in mind and the solutions of access to the outside, I brought in Scott, our landscaping guru for some ideas. Scott, if we’re coming of this deck here, what I was thinking about rather than kind of start of scratch and get rid of this concrete you know, maybe painting it. They’ve got the other deck painted.
Scott: Oh yeah.
Leslie Sadler: Do you think it kind of to match whatever the color we choose in the truck of materials.
Scott: So, what we’re going to do?
David Sheinkopf: Instead of going to the hassle and expensive breaking up this concrete left. We decided to paint it with Quick cream. There’s a color that’s right for any job and it really gives you a long lasting durable finish.
Leslie Sadler: Scott there is kind of this area here.
Scott: What we can do is put a tree lose on this wall right here. There are lots of plants that you can kind of inter weed in between.
Leslie Sadler: Thanks Scott.
Leslie Sadler: What about your daughter if we look at something over here that’s kind of her owns well, maybe a butterfly garden for instance, now, that there’s a kind of plant in some kinds of plants that butterflies are attracted too.
Dan and Sandy’s daughter Sarah needed her own special place to play in the garden, so we create this really fun butterfly garden. All these flowers and plants attract butterflies. We’ve even create a little fairy terrarium that she can have fun with and to have her friends over and really add on to this, so Sarah can get comfortable of nature and have her own little place to play in the backyard.
The Lowes garden section is a great, great place to find tools and anything you need and they also have a lot of organic solutions. This is how organic bench when I took Sandy and Dan over to take a look at that they were really impressed because they have a young. So they want make sure where she is playing is safe and pesticides free.
Here is a really fun product from Lowes. It’s actually a water fountain and decky dirt all in one. We want to have a little fun with your garden.
Dan Sudd: I love music.
Leslie Sadler: We’ve got the neatest product. Have you seen this things light sound if light in that has a speakers and a basic light. You could just put them around kind of the perimeter of your deck and your patio and out here when you are grilling out with your music.
Dan Sudd: And I just connect to this one.
Leslie Sadler: They do it.
Dan Sudd: Sure, I like that. I’ll be out of here.
Leslie Sadler: Everything we are using for this re-design and this new plan out back is all from Lowes. It’s always great to walk away from a project knowing it fits the personality of the people who live here.
David Sheinkopf: The Lowes Creative Ideas team helped turned this hot flood yard into a beautiful and serene or tree. With the little inspiration, you can tackle any project or problem, to find out how, go to LowesCreativeIdeas.com and when you’re there subscribe to our free magazine.
