How to Link to Text in the Same Document in Dreamweaver CS3

You can easily link to text within Dreamweaver by creating an anchor and then linking to it from another place in your web page. So first of all you need to create the anchor and the anchor is going to be where you want to link to go on the page.

So I want my link to be here where it’s jump to having choose so when I click this it will take me down to heading two. So first of all I’m going to create my anchor. To do some you’ve got a click right before where I want to place that anchor and I’m going to go up to my insert menu and then go up to named anchor and I am going to type the name of the anchor.

I want to type heading to the right here and it will help you with your site maintenance late if you name it with something meaningful. Click the OK button and you can see right here that I have the little anchor symbol appears so now I’m going to go back up and create my link to that anchor and let us select what I want to link so I’m going to select to jump to heading to and there’s a couple of ways to do this if you just want to create a quick link you go down here to your properties pane and you need to type the number symbol and then type the name of your anchor.

So in this case it will be heading to and you can press enter and it will create that link, another way to do it is to select that text and to go out to insert and then hyper link and then you can go ahead and leave the text that’s in there or create new text if you’d like to that and then you can use the drop down box next to link and you could choose what anchor you want to use and then this way you can also choose a target if you wanted to open up into a new page or just on to itself, click OK after you’ve had those settings done and it will create your link.
