Happy Valentine’s Day!
Ken Dolan: Hi everybody! We’re the Dolans. This is one of my favorite videos, as you know I am an expert in many topics. Not the least of which is matters of love.
Daria Dolan: Oh yes.
Ken Dolan: We’ve been married 36 years and working together 22 years. We have been asked a millions times. What are IRAs and all the money questions but how do you guys stay together, work together and still say stay so much in love?
Daria Dolan: Rule number 1. Let him keep thinking he’s the master of love.
Ken Dolan: How about the other, never mind that get out of here. I see you get your Valentine’s Day sweater out. Well you know…
Daria Dolan: It’s sort of in honor of the holiday.
Ken Dolan: Well speaking of the Holidays, after the first of the year, there's an old saying, “If you want to get rid of 200 ugly pounds of weight, get rid of your husband at the beginning of the year”. And it’s funny that between the first of the year in Valentine’s Day Daria, that’s among the busiest times for matrimonial lawyers like why?
Daria Dolan: Well for one thing, all those bonuses got paid in the first of the year and at the end of the year. People want to make a change, not just the politicians but everybody wants to make a change so they go on diets. They get rid of those 200 ugly pounds and that’s why the Divorce Attorneys are so busy.
Ken Dolan: I can't but well I guess it’s true.
Daria Dolan: Matrimonial Attorneys.
Ken Dolan: I love this Valentine’s things.
Daria Dolan: Well thank you.
Ken Dolan: You have my initials, oh Daria, for heaven’s sakes.
Daria Dolan: No.
Ken Dolan: Oh it’s not my, who is that? That’s what I want to know.
Next of the things that we thought it might be kind of fun for Valentine’s Day, the kinds of things that have kept us together for so many years. I trust Daria, I respect Daria and I love her sense of humor.
Daria Dolan: That’s a key thing.
Ken Dolan: Yes.
Daria Dolan: Sense of humor, because if you don’t have it, you’re going to look like all those couples that we see of all ages, it’s not just the seniors, seating in restaurants.
Ken Dolan: Not talking to each other.
Daria Dolan: Eating dinner, not looking at one another not talking. Sense of humor, try and keep a little bit of something exciting going, you know stay aware of what’s going on. Find something to talk about.
Ken Dolan: All done Daria and we give again another couple ones. Have patience, you know we fight.
Daria Dolan: Lots.
Ken Dolan: We fight, mostly because of Daria. Number 2, may be number 5, something…
Daria Dolan: See what I mean with that sense of humor.
Ken Dolan: Never mind. You’ve got to be committed. One thing we do work and I tell you I work at it everyday just ask Daria, you know I love her to death and that is you have to be committed to a relationship. We work at it everyday, I open Daria’s door and I say she’s “Thank You”. It’s like we’re newly weds. You must be committed to a marriage, committed to a relationship, not even marriage and also be sympathetic. And one thing Daria and I have said from many, many years and I don’t think many times over 36 years were violated those. Don’t go to bed mad.
Daria Dolan: Nope. Just go to bed. No.
Ken Dolan: Just get out of here. Anyway Happy Valentine’s Day!
Daria Dolan: No, no, no, one last thing.
Ken Dolan: What?
Daria Dolan: I want to leave you with some of my favorite lyrics from some of my favorite lyricist.
Ken Dolan: Are you going to sing?
Daria Dolan: No, I'm just going recite.
Ken Dolan: Awesome, give me the words.
Daria Dolan: Paul Williams, “You have to consider your relationship at all times as you and me against the world”.
Ken Dolan: Happy Valentine’s Day! Love each other.
