How to Lock Drive Letters on your PC

Mike Agerbo: Kind of quick tip for you on locking drive letters, what I mean by that, or if you go into the my computer of your windows desktop here, to will show you all the different drives you have , lot of you are familiar with the C drive that's the main hard drive in the system. But then this have also got a D drive that's my DVD and up here I have got my free agent drive, this is my little external hard driven and is the E drive well sometimes you might want to actually run programs half of the your external hard drive and if you want to do the you want to make sure that the drive letters locks, and what do you mean by that is that if you do go to run that program and that drive letters are not assigned to the right external hard drive the program will run.

So simply by going to the my computer icon right clicking I can hit the manage button and from there, it'll open up computer management i click on storage here on the side and then down to disc management and here it will pop up the different hard drives that I have here to couple of seconds and once it does that I can then go to the free agent drive that's my E drive right now, and again right click the mouse button and from here I can change drive letter and path.

Appearing this is the E drive right now but I want to change that down to my M drive. Hit okay and from that point forward it will be known as my M drive, the nice thing there again is that I can now run programs off here and I don't have to worry about other devices I'm plugging in stealing that E drive letter any more it's now my M drive.
