Mike Roussell: Hey, nutritionist Mike Roussell here and today we want to talk about a question that I always get or get a lot is basically really simple question is how can I lose weight. Right so I want to give you three simple things that you can do to lose more weight.
First thing you want to do is actually eat more fiber, specifically soluble fiber, now you will get soluble fiber in things like oat meal and whole grains, the pith like the white part of citrus fruits you know like that when you peel an orange the white part in the inside that’s got soluble fiber in it.
Another thing is if you cant get a lot of those things, may be you are cutting your carbs, you know a lot of grains, which is a good idea if you are trying to lose weight then you want to may be looking to a soluble fiber supplement, you can get a packed in supplements so you can just eat more apples, right or you could use a glucomannan supplement, which I talked about a bunch because that’s a great soluble fiber. So, increasing your fiber is one way to help you lose more weight.
The other way is metabolic resistance training, I might sound like a broken record because if you watch my other videos, you know I talk about metabolic resistance training a lot, okay and that is really, really important to use weight training that is going to hold on, you know its going to force your body to hold on to your muscle and elevate your metabolism. Now the third tip is to eat more protein, especially eating protein in every meal.
Now on the surface these tips might seem very, very basic, more fiber, metabolic resistance training and eating more protein but they are very important and do them. So, don’t just sluff off these tips I am giving you because may be you have heard them before, especially you are not applying. Now more protein is really important because it is going to allow you do a couple of things. When you eat more protein, you are automatically going to eat less carbohydrates, especially if you are replacing some of the carbs in your diet with proteins and other thing is called the Thermic effect of food. Now protein has more Thermic effect of food and basically what that is, is takes your body more energy to digest protein.
So, you are going to burn more calories when you eat protein compared to the calories you will burn, digesting carbohydrates or fats. So those are the three tips on helping you how can I lose weight more.
