How to Magically Find a Chosen Card
Now it’s time for Card Trick; take a pack of cards and you’re going to push the cards from side to side and you’re going to ask your friend to choose a card when they say stop, ask them to remove their card and ask them to look at it and remember the card.
For this example, we’re going to use the seven of hearts, once I’ve remember the card, they can even show to their friends if they like ask to place it back on top of the pack, once they’ve done that you’ll then cut the cards and wave over your hands over the pack magic cloak, pick up the card again and then you will start to deal down one at a time the cards back on to the table, ask of them to keep thinking of the cards, it’s very important to keep thinking on the card so you can pick up all the message they are sending to you, keep thinking of the card each time and then you’ll stop when you get the message they are sending to you to the top card and it is their chosen card; the seven of hearts.
Now the explanation, it’s really, really easy how to do this, they can choose any cards they like now what’s make it work is in the pack, we have a secret card which does all the work for you, now this card here the six of clubs does look normal, but in fact believe it or not it is two playing cards which have been simply stuck together to make a thick card so it feels different than a normal playing card it’s a lot thicker that’s why it’s called the thick card.
To start the trick, the card is placed at the bottom of the pack, remember you’re think card is a six of clubs in this example so the bottom of the pack; when you push through the pack, they stop where they like, they slide the card out, they look at it you ask to put it back on top of the pack. When you cut the cards, what happens is, the pile you then place on top is of course has got the thick card just there and it lands above their card, their chosen card. And then when you wave your hands over the pack, and put the cards back up all you have to do is simply deal down the cards on to the table one at a time and until you eventually come to, of course that card, the thick card now you’re going to notice it because it’s a lot thicker, okay, I got it here already it’s a lot thicker and then you know the next card is their card so you place it back, you stop you ask them to think of the card one last time and then do another gesture and the magic, you turn the card over and it is their card, their chosen card.
This trick is called the rising card. It’s very similar at the beginning of the Find A Card Trick as you count the cards down on to the table, you come across to the thick card let us know the chosen card is this one. Now, as in finding the card, instead of turning this card over to reveal it, you pick the pack up and you place it into the card box like so and you place it on your hand and then you concentrate and wave your hand and magically the card starts to rise out of the pack, this is called the Rising Card.
Now, this is the explanation to the Rising Card. It’s very easily done because the card box pretty much does a little work for you. It’s been especially adapted at the back with a rectangle cut out, so when you take the pack of cards and you placed the pack inside, as you can see this will be their chosen card now if I took my finger rub it, up and down, it raises the card out of the box. Now when you’re actually going to show people, your thumb goes in the gap there against the card so from the front, it looks like this so it raises out of the pack, make sure this flap is bent well back so the card can come out easily and also to create the illusion the cards raise and out use your other hand to just slide slightly so the card begins to raise out of the pack. Do it nice and slowly because it looks more magical and there you have it, the secret to the rising card.
