Hey, everyone welcome to a new episode of BFX. This week we are taking a look at back at something that steer to all our child hoods. Mortal Kombat.

This week I am going to show how to create Kano’s cool metal face plate thing and red glowie eye. If you are not big Mortal Kombat fan you can easily modify this to be a terminator or Cyborg like effect.

An opera mask, red reflectors, novelty ear lights, liquid latex, nose wax and plumbers epoxy.

The first step is to measure, mark and cut the mask to fit to whoever is going to wear. Next take your reflector and pop it out of the housing then trim to your desired shape using and rotary tool to help curve the reflector I heated it up and then carefully bent it with pliers.
Now you are ready to mount the reflective eye with plumbers epoxy. Use the flat edge of a knife or screw driver to shape and sculpt your epoxy. To add your lights simply clip off the ear wraps in hot glue in place. Now you are ready for your two tone paint job. The application of this rig is easy. Add a thin layer of nose padding then bonded to your actors face with liquid latex and spirit gum then blend with make up.
My Kano costume is a pair of pajama pants, a sleeveless tunic made from an old t-shirt, block socks made in the arm garments and finally two old belts. One for the waist and the other I added fake pouches made of newspaper and duct tape.
By now you should know the test liquid latex in your actors arm before applying make up to their face or any where else but there are other chemicals that can be harmful. For example our good buddy Lee was suppose to play Kano in this test film but as I start putting the application on his face he had a bad reaction with the spirit gum in his eyes. So you need to be mindful, listen to your actors, if they are feeling uncomfortable you need to stop.

After Kano was defeated in Mortal Kombat he was banished from out world and sent back to earth.
Male 1: Kano!
Male 2: How do you know my name?
Male 1: I know who you are and that you want to get back to out but first you have to go through me.
Male 2: Milli Syrus?
Male 1: That is Hanna Montana to you Bob.
Male 2: You are Hanna Montana.
Male 1: Well technically I am a man just so to parity but if you look….
