How I learned to stop worrying and love the rain? I have a live webcam on the internet. Okay, I have more than one. For now, let us talk about the one on my balcony.
I have a killer view of the sails and skyline including the spacing. To me that is screams webcam. Webcam has two has sections. The camera itself is not on a tripod and a think pod is running ten cams software.
I already had an old Logitech camera live around with 6X telescopic lens from think gig allowed me to get a close and personal because space needle itself. I split the lens down and used a nylon washer as a spacer. The camera’s lens is almost flushed with the front of the camera allowing me to focus properly with the lens attached.
This camera does not screw in to a standard tripod so I used the pieces strapping about 90 degrees and a couple of zip tags or bowel can used covered but on the fourth floor up on the ridge hence the good view but we are exposed to the elements.
I still needed a relatively waterproof container for the computer. In the spirit of cuddling together old webcams and used think pods, I was not about to buy an outer utility box, storable cells with plastic under the bed box with the stop on lid that match the dimensions of the think pod open flap. Perfect!
Try as good, hot as bad. So, I raised the think pod up using cork spacers then I used the couple of adding fans across ventilation. Last but not least, a couple of holes for the USB cable and power cord. There is an outlet on the balcony which now supports a one outlet serves as a protector and the think pod attached to my wi-fi router all told under 50 bucks in parts including 18 for the lens from think gig, ten for the tripod and Ebay with free shipping and another 10 for the plastic case.
