How to Make Arroz Con Pollo y Frijoles
Cook on Sunday, eat 'til Thursday, I’m Allie and you’re watching Economy Bites.
There were going to be making Arroz Con Pollo y Frijoles which in English term plates to Spanish rice with chicken and black beans, that’s not the exact translation but it is close enough.
I’m going to take my extra virgin olive oil my favorite ingredient and I’m going to heat up, what on earth could that noise be? It’s just the beautiful sound track of Sunset Park. It’s not big enough to cook all the chicken at once, so I'm going to be cooking two at a time. I’m going pan stir this chicken and the way to do that it’s just start skin type down with the nice beautiful brown color on it.
I’m going to wait for this oil to get really hot before I put my chicken in, almost lost that guy. I want to make sure you turn off the fire alarm, if you’re like me and goes up whenever you pan fries something.
This finish rice recipe is really special to me. I found it in my grocery store, not on the back of the box. We’re looking at this Goya stuff and I was like, I wonder what you do with that and this woman just came up to us and start talking to us about how to make Spanish rice and then I came home and tried it to myself.
I add it a couple of things to it to make it franchise Allie and let me tell you, it is. -- olive oil in high heat, cup of this rice and you can also use brown rice, if you want it. Okay, that’s the way to much. Let see if we can pour this back in without having any mince that, rice overboard. Oh, it’s going everywhere, that’s okay. We can clean it up later and nobody is watching except all of you.
Make sure that theirs oil on everything here. About soak up for minutes until it looks nice and brown. While we’re over here, once we start seeing it get white like coming white upon the edges here, is going to I’m turn over. That’s beautiful. Now I’m going to turn the heat down a little if I want to cook evenly.
And then take about 20 to 30 minutes, if it takes longer that you think, it’s probably taking just the right of amount of time. Now, if you’re grocery store doesn’t carry, free prepared salsa pick--like this? No worries you can use a jar of salsa, you can even use a can of dice tomatoes with chilies.
Alright. Its brown, add our salsa, two cups of water, a bouillon cube. This is going to give it to nice chickeney flavor and a really pretty yellow coloring, mush that guy up here. The very last piece is this little packet of Sazon Goya Spices, really what’s here its like coriander, garlic, chili powder, if you have this spices laying around go feel free use your own spices.
Once its boiling where going to cover and let it simmer for 20 minutes, so now lets start on part 3 of our Spanish meal, the Frijoles. The first thing I’m going to do is take a few cloves of garlic smash, get to about a medium high heat, a little bit olive oil, add my garlic and when you put garlic in the pot. You want to get it on low heat of the garlic doesn’t immediately burn 20 minutes.
That’s my dog, that’s me, don’t I look the same? Me, joking my dog age sticks, don’t try this at home kids. And to I’m going to add the beans to the pot, one can full of water just enough to cover the beans, because going to put too much when you’re beans are going to taste like water.
Now that the beans were going to add are spices, some black pepper and salt, I’m going to use cumin and chili powder to spice my beans. You can also use some cayenne pepper if you want them really spicy or you could use many of coriander, beans and water to soak up a lot of the taste so you kind a have to use a lot of spice.
Oh, my god. I’m like almost a human, it’s horrible. a little bit garlic powder, a chili powder, put a little on there, taste it you want more, add more, too many and I’m actually going to add some Frank the Red Hot Sauce because I like spicy. And now we’re going to do with these beans, it just let him simmer.
This is what happens when you don’t have a thing about your stove. Fire in the dance floor. Fire burning, fire burning, fire burning on the dance floor. Get out, is their helping? The chicken isn’t done yet. That’s the funniest fire but the beans are delicious. Oh! They're actually are really good.
Last time a man may have turn outside but I think I fix it. Most everything taste like poo-poo, did you? Definitely look like --. You look like --. One day I live in a mansion with an oven it has a thing above that takes away the smell. Oh, I can afford another one.
Two, one. Okay, look at that, beautiful thing of rice, you know, we could have use the box of rice already made that we could have pay like 5 box worth of grocery store but instead we did these ourselves. We know what was in our food. We didn’t not any bad chemicals, that’s not very good.
Oh, and really spicing, keep it all in fridge and separate containers, one thing rice, one thing a beans, one thing for your chicken. Okay, before we eat it, we’re going to spice the chicken just a little salt and pepper. This is a well balance meal.
There are tons of things you can do with these delicious dishes that we just made. The only cost is like less than $20, cooking on Sunday, eat till Thursday. Alright, so here’s my dinner for tonight. All I have to do left, all I have left to do okay, nothing at all. No it’s just the noise of the neighborhood, theirs no crime, theirs just noise. There's just like happening.
