Hi I am Chef Keith Snow, welcome to my kitchen. I want to show you how to make a very easy dessert that you could use for entertaining that looks a little fancy on the plate but it is simple, the ingredients are top quality and I think you should try it.
Let us just go over our ingredients. We had two bananas and these are organic bananas, I think it is very important to try and buy organic bananas and here are hazelnuts or filberts they are sometimes called. And these, what I did was put them into a little skillet with one tablespoon of butter and I want that the butter pretty hot skillet. I watched it so the butter got a little brown, toss in the hazelnuts, just shook the pan around for about one minute and that gives it a little buttery sort of extra nutty flavors, delicious, so that was we have there.
Here is homemade caramel, very easy to make, there is a video for this on the website. And then this is chocolate ganache, and that is that classic French beautiful syrup made out of chocolate and cream, very easy to make, essentially gives a little scolded cream, pour it over the top of some high quality chocolate, you whisk it together, let it cool slightly and that is what you have there.
So let us plate this up, and this can be made in advance you can have the bananas ready to go like this, all of your ingredients and then boom, you plate it up in no time. So, we will cut the little ends of our bananas, take our knife carefully, and just pierce the skin. And now, we are going to cut it in half, so I am going to put my knife on an angle and cut the bananas in half, and now, I will just put them on the plate and it is one banana per person, just like that.
So there you are going to take a little handful of your hazelnuts on either side just like that. And dry out my hands, and now we will take some of our beautiful caramel. Just do a little drizzle of that, only about one tablespoon. Now we reach for our gorgeous ganache. And this time we will go across the plate, the opposite direction and then we will take a little bit of our heavy cream right over the top of the bananas, not too much and there you have a beautiful and elegant entertaining dessert, give this one a try.
