You know when the explorers and trappers first came west. They abide us the way of cooking bread over an open fire and this way is called making Banic and this is from the Italic word meaning bread. So come with me now and ill show you how to make it yourself.
So lets started! They could be a gold rush at any minute. So you get your bear fat or shortening and mix in with the flour. Make stiff dough. Its usually best just to make this by hand. Break it and never look chance move it around all right! Don’t have to go over board just it for a while until it, its kind of crumble looking. Then well add in the other dry ingredients. Mainly the three table spoons of baking powder and make it rise and the two spoons of salt. It helps it bake. Mix that into. Get more the finger thumb action and no good in work in there.
Now we've done all o f our mixing so now its time to make a little well right in the center of all you're mixing that you’ve done add in the water, a bit of the time but no more than three quarters of a cup. I don’t care how much you want to put in. It could be too much. Now we mix that around and make actual dough. You can see that we've got now something approaching dough. You could actually use.
So to make Banic bread what we do now is take about a quarter of that off. Roll it into a ball about the size of a chicken egg. Wrap it out on a board and flatten it down with your hands or you can use a rolling pan. Hello Isabel! A quarter of an inch stick looks like a small pancake. All right! Now we've got that done there's one more very important part a stick. You already make a Banic bread over a camp fire. You need a stick to put it on.
So now we've got our Banic lets flatten like this. You find a stick and wrap you wrap it all around there. Good and tight. Let’s stick this over the fire not quite in the plains tightly. And leave it until its golden brown. I wonder why pioneer like this so much.
