Anthony: Welcome to the Art of the Drink video podcast, my name is Anthony Caporale. And after a month on the road, we are finally back behind the bar with a new Drink Art girl for the month December, Tracy, how are you?
Tracy: I am good. How are you?
Anthony: Good! So, December we are right in the middle of the holidays. We just finished Thanksgiving. We got Christmas and New Year coming up, we got all kinds of good stuff right.

So, I want to do a bunch of holiday tin drinks and I want to start off with my one of my favorites, the Candy Cane Martini.

So, we are going to begin by taking a martini glass because we always set our glassware first and I am going to rim this glass little bit of grenadine first and then I mix some green and red sugar and I just rimmed the glass in some green and red sugar to start.
Tracy: It looks very pretty.
Anthony: All right, thank you. Shake it in full of ice. First thing in this drink is going to be vanilla vodka. I am going to put three quarters of an ounce of vanilla vodka and I am going to follow it because of course, it is a Candy Cane Martini.
Tracy: Exactly.
Anthony: Three quarters of an ounce of Peppermint Schnapps. Now, I know about your bar, but my bar, we had at least a dozen types of schnapps, right?
Tracy: Yes, probably.
Anthony: Okay.
Tracy: There is a lot.
Anthony: We are using peppermint obviously because it is a Candy Cane Martini, but there are ton out there. If you want to learn more about schnapps, check out our blog and I am going to give you the history of schnapps, where they came from, because actually, the original German Schnapps is very different from the schnapps that we have here in America. I talked about that on the blog.
So, what you need to know though, three quarter of an ounce of peppermint schnapps for this drink.
Tracy: Okay.
Anthony: Half ounce of white chocolate liqueur and then, I am going to shake this because it is a martini and I want to shake it until the tin frost. All right, so I got a nice layer of frost on the tin. And at this point, I am going to add one ounce of half-and-half, and I did not add that before shake it because otherwise, it would foam up all over the place to just give you a big frothy drink. I do not want that. I want this to be a nice smooth textured dense drink.
So, the dairy products are going after we shake it, just swirl it around a little bit and before I go ahead and put it in my martini glass, I want to take a little bit of grenadine and just drizzle the grenadine around the inside of this glass. All right, because the Peppermint Candy Cane is white and red. So now you can see when I pour this in, and I am going to give you a nice swirling in there and I am going to now take the grenadine and drizzle it over the top. All right, and that with the addition of a Candy Cane is our Candy Cane Martini.
Tracy: Oh, it is great.
Anthony: Want try to make one?
Tracy: Sure!

Anthony: So first thing, rim the glass, great, and little grenadine. A lot of times when you rim a glass behind the bar, you use Rose’s lime juice, but I just do not think that flavor works with all of these, so I am using grenadine. And, in a mixing tin, a big scoop of ice.

Awesome, so let us start with three quarters of an ounce of vanilla vodka.
Tracy: Okay.

Anthony: All right, and three quarter of an ounce of peppermint schnapps and that is a Candy Cane base right there and then just a half ounce of white chocolate liqueur. All right, this does not really add a chocolate flavor to it, it is just kind of sweetens the drinks a little bit, great.
Tracy: Yes.
Anthony: And now, we can shake it up real good.
