How to Make Chocolate Cake
Hello and welcome to don’t call me Martha episode 2. Let’s make chocolate cake.
Today we’re going to make a chocolate cake everybody is making cake from scratch to
start but it’s really quite easy. Just start with we’re going to line the pans with wax paper
so that the cake comes out obviously just strip in some wax paper and I draw a circle on
the paper and I cut it out and so you cut out 2 circles and put it the bottom of the pans
we’re going to stick them down with a little bit of butter and we’re going to butter the
sides of the pan and I want to run a little bit of butter around the edges underneath the
paper just to get that stuff jam see.
Today we’re making chocolate cake I like to use the recipe talked about from Hershey
coco can right there so Hershey’s pretty good chocolate cake and it calls for 2 cups of
sugar. 11 ¾ cups flour make sure you scoop the flour and don’t you dump it in the
container you don’t want it to be packed down, ¾ of a cup of cocoa, ½ teaspoons of
baking powder, ½ teaspoons of baking soda, and a teaspoon of salt. I put everything
except the sugar into the and now we sift.
So make sure your sifted items are stirred with the sugar and then you add 2 eggs a cup of
milk a ½ cup of oil and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract. Egg, milk, ½ cup of oil and 2
teaspoons of vanilla extract. You can use it with a mixer or you can just do it with a
whisk and beat it until it’s smooth. You beat for about 10 minutes it becomes all smooth
and shiny then you add 1 cup of boiling water and it will take a bit to get it started and
we’ll have it real thin batter.
Scrape down the big parts of the side work on it. Get it to the cans with quick whack on
the counter to bring the extra bubbles to surface and put in the oven at 350 for about 30
minutes. The cake is cool for about 10 minutes. Our cake is cool. Put a lot of frosting
down here and pull the cake in place. Put your bottom layer on upside down and pour
your frosting on top to fill the cake.
