Today, I’m going to show you how to make my secret magic compost tea that will help you win grand champion at the fair. We’ll start off by just getting a paint strainer from the hardware store, a 5-gallon one, and a 5-gallon bucket. We’ll just put that strainer right down on the bucket. And in that, you put a shovelful or two or three good handfuls of a high-quality compost. And you use the compost because it’s got all the beneficial bacteria and the fungi in there that will make your tea. Then, you’ll need a couple of big handfuls of Alfalfa. I use Alfalfa pellets. You can use Alfalfa hay or Alfalfa meal.
Alfalfa contains a chemical called Triacontanol which is a plant growth stimulant, and that’s one of the secrets. And then we put one pint of a high-quality organic fertilizer that has a lot of traced minerals in it.
Now, we have a giant teabag and we’re going tie that off with a string. Next, we get the garden hose and fill it with water. And lastly, to keep our tea from going anaerobic or rotting, we’re going to put in a cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide. Now, for three days, you’ll come out and agitate this and you want to leave this out in the full sunshine so it will get warm. At the end of three days, you’re magic tea is ready. You can remove the bag and then you can put the dry material around your plants, but the tea, you’ll want to take and spoon feed your plants with it. Add about a pint to a quart per plant. If you do that and you do it every week for ten days, you’ll have the best plants at the fair.
