DÉCOR IT YOURSELF
Hey there nesters and welcome back to Décor It Yourself.
Hi! There Meg, my name in Erin and I live in Montana. And for some reason, people in Montana love wood paneling. So I was wondering if you guys come with an idea that I could decorate with and cover this up that is not permanent that I could take it down when I move. If you could come up with something like that, I would love you forever. Thank you so much.
Do not worry Erin, you are not alone. Over on the forums, there has been a flurry of entries asking for help with link walls. Dbrain and moving into door rooms an Ada D and hosehead cannot paint the walls because of their landlord. We need a no nail, no paint wall solution.
So this week, we are going to make DIY WALL DECALS. To make a silhouette wall decal, first enlarge your photo or trace the silhouette of your family or friend. Enlarge it to the size that you want and take a piece of thick cardstock paper and take your picture to it. Take your scissors and carefully cut the silhouette out of your two pieces of paper. You do this as many silhouettes as you would like in your wall. These cardstock pieces will be your templates. Then take your contact paper and whatever color or colors you choose and place your cardstock on top. Cut and utilize as much paper as you can with your contact paper placement.
Now tape the card stock silhouettes to the contacts paper. Now carefully cut out your silhouettes. Remove your contact paper from your template and peal off the backing. Apply it to your wall and a no nail piece of art. These wall decals are easy to move and will not take off any paints keeping your landlord and roommates happy.
Look how great this black silhouettes look against the white walls.
And when you return we have more no nail wall solutions for you.
Everyday clothes like these are being tossed by the wayside. Deserted and without a home, thrown away in a garbage can of neglect. Forever lost in an ocean of despair. But you, yes, you can help. Go to www.threadbanger.com and find out how to take abandoned clothes like a gold blue here and turn them into today’s hottest trends. We can help www.threadbanger.com.
You can make any decal you would like by sketching your design with color pencil on the back of your contact paper. Once you have the design you like, trace over it in a black marker to make it easy to cut. My design is an apple and pear with seeds. Be as creative as like then take off the back and look how great this looks on the stark white walls or fridge. It is up to you.
I also upgraded the DIY headboard by adding a branch decal with mod dots above it. It looks great next to our Danish modern bedside table. For more inspiration for your wall decals, check Dviders lovely designs and Blik’s birds and bird cages.
For an all out wall decal guide with Holly from Decor8’s article on the trend and RealSimple. Ms. Nielson and from Nienie’s Dialogues made all of these fans and created the prettiest paper wall and shares it with us on her blog.
Adriana from Honduras created the coolest mural and transformed her wall. This would not be recommended for dorm rooms but any who can use paint, try something like this.
This weeks quick tip, use a kitchen trivet tribute as your nightstand coaster to protect more surface area of your table. Do not forget to send us your home décor projects to enter our toolbox contest.
Until next week, your nest needs you.
