Hi, my name is Sonia Kalian and I started a company called Monkey Business Jewelry Designs. Today, I am going to show you how to make a pair of earrings. What we need to do is we need to begin with the proper tools. The first I want to show you is a round nose pliers. The round nose pliers is going to help you make a perfect loop that will be attractive on your earrings.
The second tool I’m going to show you is chain nose pliers. You’re going to need this to help you make right angles and you’re going to need these to hold your earrings still so that you can wrap them properly.
The next tool I have is wire cutter. The wire cutter is going to cut your wires in that perfect spot so that you can have perfect earrings. And the last tool I liked to use is a crimping tool. This crimping tool is going to help tack in the wire that’s going to be at left over after your use your wire cutters. It might not make sense now but it will make sense as soon as we get started.
In addition to the tools that you’ll need, you also have to have components or findings of materials to complete your products. Let’s talk about those. The variety of different findings that you can purchase from your local shops, their sterling silver earring post sometimes they sell gold too but it is more expensive. They have the liver back design as well. You can also find sterling silver chain and all sorts of a rainbow of different beads and we’re going to go over that in a second.
And for the young girls and children out there who would like to make their earrings too. They have the earring hoops and these are great because when you make your earrings you can slide on different earrings to change up what the kids are wearing.
I liked to put my beads in an organizer. This way I can grab the color I want quickly, the size of bead and even the type of bead you want to use. For instance, I put my crystals on this one. And in this I organizer, I have all my blues and purples and my semi-precious stones. You see you got the drift of what I am talking about, how to organize your beads so it makes it more fun and quick to access.
I also have these pan lazy suits and that I pick up at the local hobby shop. This was sold with scissors around them. I got rid of the scissors and I put on my tools on here and it’s perfect. It keeps it some off of my work station and within arms reach so I can grab the one I need fast.
And last but not least, I’m also going to be using a jewelry mat and the reason why I said last but not least is because essential necessity for any jeweler is this jewelry mat and the beauty of this jewelry mat that I am using today is if you happen to drop a bead it’s not going to fall all over the floor. It’s going to fall and land on your mat so you don’t lost any beads.
And now that we’ve got over all the tools, let’s get started in making our earrings.
