So that is a quick look at prepping our main clip for compression. What else can we do in Encoder to make our clips look better? What if we need to clean up or trim a few frames or package up our clip with a title, maybe add an inslide or we can do all of that in Microsoft Expression Encoder II. If we take a closer look at this clip, we will notice up here in the front that there is a mistake in it, a place where the video distinctly jumps.
Right there, and if we step through this section a frame at a time, we see that there is a handful of frames that have been accidentally repeated. Normally, in a case of a mistake like this, you would have to send the animation back to the artist to fix or at a very list jump out to an editing application in order to repair it, re-render it and then re-import the file. Well, not with Encoder II.
You would probably notice these collections of icons to the right of the player controls. Well this are some basic editing tools to give us the ability to fix things like this when we come across them. If we identify exactly where the video jumps using our arrow tools and there it is, we have got an obvious jump between this frame and this frame. We can now use this button to cut the video at this point. Click and now, once cut, we can do a few more powerful things such as trim the clip on either side of the edit with a mouse.
Example we could drag this to the left and try to get rid of those frames or if we wanted to, we could click and drag to the right of the cut point. Notice, we got some nice visual feedback of the secondary clip there being removed. But this is a little bit of an awkward way to do something as precise as what we are trying to accomplish here. So let me undo that a couple of times. We do have multiple undoes inside Encoder.
Let us jump back to our duplicated frame, there it is. Once again, I will add an edit point. And now take note of what is in the frame because we are now going to move back in the timeline and try to find this exact frame. This is a great opportunity to zoom in on our timeline where we have a little more scrub precision and if I drag to the left, I think that is a perfect match for the frame that we were looking for.
I am going to go one more frame otherwise we would end up doubling this frame which would still cause a little bit of a jump in the videos so I am going to mouse one more click to the left and I will add another cut point. Now I am going to move my time marker over this segment and click on the remove segment under the play head button on the right. Now, I am going to take this all the way back out again and let us see what that cut looks like.
There we go, perfect, we have solve the problem.
