Hi! I am Tina, we are doing Emo hairstyles. In this video I am going to show you how to do really fun creative funky color with using extensions.
So right now what I am doing is I have cornrowed my model's hair, this is Mariah, across the head like this. This is not something you can really do at home but this is just to show you different styles of extensions. I have cornrowed here and what I am going to do is sew the extensions onto that cornrow.
Now, if you don't want to spend the money or go to a salon to have it done. What you can do is buy packs of colored hair and sew your own clips on. So this is what the clips look like, they clip right into your hair and they snap. So that when you sew it on to the extension you can snap these in your hair and you can take them out in the night.
So my model's hair is all prepped and ready to go with her cornrow. And now I am going to sew the extension under her hair. Now, we decided we wanted to go with a really fun color, so what we are going to do is we are going to do red. Hair comes in different types, this type is specifically for sew and extensions, or you could glue it in. This is hair that comes on to a weft, what that means is it's not individual strands of hair, it's one long strand of hair. So you have to cut it.
When you do extensions and you want to sew clips on to them, what you can do is measure it first so when I hold it up to the braid that I created, I know that it needs to be about that width. So then I can cut it. Now, you want to do the same thing measuring it to your head before you sew clips on to, so you know where it's going to clip into.
So now what I am going to do is I am going to literally sew this onto the braid that I have. And it's a great way to have color without dyeing your hair. When doing extensions, the sewing kind, you have to have a curved needle. You can get them at the beauty supply or whatever. There is also a great way if you just want to wear extensions for a day to get double-stick fashion tape and you can double-stick them into your hair, and then they'll wash out or you can use rubbing alcohol to release the tape. So this is a great way to have color in the hair.
Now, these extensions are a little long, but she does want the length, Mariah told me earlier that she wanted it to be really long. But if they are too long, longer than your hair, you can always go back and cut them. So we are going to keep adding.
Now, because her hair is fine, you don't want to sew too many on to one braid, that's why we are going to have several braids throughout her hair.
Alright, so that's a really great way to have some fun funky color, I have sewn in a bunch of tracks into Mariah's hair so it's really fun, it is a great way to have really fun-funky sort of color without having to dye your hair. So it's not as much of a commitment. But we are going to continue on and I am going to sew a little bit more extensions in, but I wanted to thank you for coming and checking out these clips.
