Sheilah Kaufman: I’m Sheilah Kaufman; today I’m going to walk you through a traditional
Seder. But right now, I’m going to make a non-traditional dish; my
famous Gefilte Fish Dip which I invented if that’s the proper word
because I got tired in washing 20 dishes that only held one piece of Gefilte
Fish. For people that come and I know they don’t care for Gefilte Fish I
tell them its horse radish dip and I serve it with fresh vegetables and
matzo.
So, we’re putting eight ounces of cream cheese that’s kind of room
temperature in the food processor. And then we’re going to add 14 ounces
of drained Gefilte Fish and you can use your favorite brand or your
favorite type of Gefilte Fish even home made Gefilte Fish. So, we’re
throwing this in the food processor with the eight ounces of cream cheese,
a hipping tablespoon of white horse radish. Now, if you really like your
things hot you can put a little more in, but I’m starting with the hipping
tablespoon. White horse radish, a teaspoon of fresh lemon juice, and salt
and pepper to taste now, I only used fresh ground pepper because once the
pepper corn is cracked its start to get stay so, fresh and just the pinch of
salt to taste. And after it’s done you can check for the salt taste and you
can add more if you want so a pinch of salt. And now we’re going to just
this into a wonderful spread it’s great with matzo or fresh vegetables.
I’m just going to scoop everything around. Much again, you want a nice
smooth almost like and one more down, scope everything down in around.
While I’m in there I’m going to taste for salt and pepper. And that’s it, I’m
going to put it in the bowl and let it chill and this will stay for days. You
can serve this before everybody sits down for the Seder so they have
something in there stomach and again it’s great with fresh vegetables or
just matzo crackers. And you can decorate it with parsley and that’s it
fabulous Gefilte Fish Dip or Horse Radish dip to be enjoy with fresh
vegetables or matzo. And now we’re going to make Charosets.
