Paula Ross: Hi! I am Paula from Andy’s Parties and we are going today show you how to run
a great Halloween party for kids at your home. Right now we are going to talk
about craft activities for kids. There are so many different craft activities you can
do for Halloween parties but obviously the ones that are popular this time of the
year, you have to do with pumpkins and Jack-o-lantern and trick-or-treating. So, I
am going to show couple of different things.
Obviously we talked about the Pumpkin Garland, when we talked about how to
decorate your party space and how to get the kids involved with that. You can
also use that as craft activities, get the kids to make some pumpkin garland to take
home and then we can also decorate pumpkins. There are couples of different
things you can do. You can use a real pumpkins or you can use craft pumpkins
and this is made out of paper mache purchased at schools supplies store and for
little kids, this is better. You can give them non toxic washable markers to
decorate the paper pumpkins and they will be so excited about it and they will do
a good job. The reason you don’t want give paint to paint on big pumpkins is
because big pumpkins, real pumpkin don’t take washable paint. The washable
doesn’t dry, it smears. It just doesn’t come out looking very nice. But the older
kids can paint pumpkins using acrylic paint. You just need to warn them that the
paint might get on their clothes and then it won’t washout. So, you give them
paint smocks or something like that to wear. With this, we want to use real acrylic
paint that’s not washable, so it will dry easily on pumpkins and we can decorate it
and the acrylic paint goes on really well, so its easy for the kids to use. Some
eyes, Jack-o-lantern nose, I’m not doing very good job here but you get the draft
and we will make this a happy pumpkin.
Lets wet this pumpkin, take a little tongue out of this, silly pumpkin and we give
him some green stem here, some of that. There we go. So older kids can definitely
paint on the pumpkins and they will come up crazy designs that will be very cute
and you can use that but remember washable paint doesn’t work on pumpkin. So
for little kids, you want to give them washable markers and they can do the same
thing on the paper pumpkins or the craft pumpkins and they can draw their Jack-
o-lantern faces, just like that and they will color the whole thing and make it very
creative for themselves. Make sure you put their names on the bottom, so they
remember whose is whose and they can take it home at end of the party and that’s
how you make some crafts. Oh, I did forget. There are also some simple things
you can get keep the kid occupied, I got this at a craft store. This is a Halloween
door hanger activity and you can also use stickers to decorate just about anything
under the sun, Halloween stickers and that about does it for our craft. So now we
can talk about some party games.
