Oh, no you're throwing a Halloween party and they’re all out of cheesy garland. Toss that store box stuff because I’m going to show you how to make some handmade awesomeness. I’ve got some project like a spooky stew, glow in the dark bags, an amazing centerpiece that’s looks good enough to eat. And a centerpiece you probably shouldn’t eat, the best part about it is all this project take under and hour, first up let’s go rock some spooky stew.
Double, double toil in trouble let’s give it us this smoky effect in here it’s dry ice. Very cool things you can find at places like the fire extinguisher store or you can call around in a lot of grocery stores also carry it.
Now the thing about dry ice is it’s almost so cold, it’s actually hot to the touch. So you want to be really careful as you’re handling it and use something like this safety gloves or some tongs you can’t touch this with your bare hands.
Let’s go ahead and add some other little plastic toys that kept down here. I’m a fan of this little avid squirrel we’ve got. So let’s put in here, Mr. Squeaky Frog, make it a cage in stew and put in this little fellow. Now even though these are all toys, another important thing to remember is like I said dry ice will burn you.
So make sure your little kids don’t go like “Mommy, could I play with the fog” and stick they’re hand in there. That’s a no-no keep, keep the kids away from it. it’s fun to look at but don’t let then touch it. one little other and another little fun thing to put in there a cute fishing lowers because why not, get into dads little taco box and then last but not least were going to add a little bit more warm water. Make it really cooked up.
What goes perfect with a bubbling witches—glow in the dark bats of course they make an amazing centerpiece all you need to get started is some foam board and some glow in the dark paint. We took our foam board and we cut out the shape of a little black bat. He’s pretty cute as it but at this point he doesn’t glow in the dark and that’s kind of crucial to our project.
So that in a jiffy by adding some glow in the dark craft paint. Now I’m just using a little paintbrush and now I’m just kind of smash this on. Now this going to—kind of dry with this sketchy look about it, so ones you covered both sides with some glow in the dark paint. You want to poke him with a sharp stick or maybe a craft knife. But the important thing to remember is you want to poke him right between his little ears or else he kind of hang to the side and that’s not good.
And then you’re just going to take some clear fishing line tie it around the little hole and then tie it to a branch. We found this old branches and we just of spray paint of black and put them in this little erne like things. So it makes a really fun centerpiece you can also use this bats to make a really cool noble.
And then all you have to do is switch our you’re light bulb with a black light on and get the party started. while our bats are flying high let’s gets started on another fun party centerpiece option. I have some cool decorative trees over here that were really easy to make so I started at this little foam basis you can usually find this in the floral department of your crafts store and easy to come by.
Now they started out green but at this little guy outside and spray painted him black because you everything has to be orange or black of course. And they obviously come in jumbo size you know the bigger the better. In this one I covered with hot glue with little pieces of candy and alternating black and orange and black orange all the way around. Over here also yummy but a little bit more time consuming I used black and orange jelly beans and again went into a pattern all the way around my little cone.
Then we have this one over here if you wanted to just, use some tissue paper. I have some over in orange and black already cut into the perfect size little squares and I am going to use a doll to get the little twist and puff that I need. So I’m just going to take the square twist it one to my bow and I’m going to take it over here hold on to it a little bit, dip it in to my hot glue. And this are really easy to find, it’s all skillet’s at craft store and it makes it really easy, so you don’t have to use a hand on a gun.
And so I’m then sticking this right on to my cone and this is where the dell comes in handy, you might be thinking like “Why have are you using that?”. It doesn’t really seem clear when you're doing one but when it’s all fold up with all the pieces tissue papers there’s going to be some blank spot from time to time and you’re only going to be able to those blank spots using you’re little bow. It takes a little bit of time and I think it’s well worth the wait. And the time that it’s going to take for your black nail polish to dry you could make any one of this little projects and have your party fabulous.
