Oh, really my little friend here wanted me to tell you that first impressions are really, important when it comes to Halloween. You want people to be in the mode the minute they hit your porch and that’s why spooky rift on your door is crucial to your decorations.
I’ve got a bunch of different options here that I’m going to show you how to make using fun things like skulls, feathers and even family photo’s and the best part it might all only take about and hour each to make.
Welcome to my hunted house.
When you think of rift, you probably think of things like pinecones and candy canes but not this rift they’re going to scare the boots off of sander so spooky. First stop let me show you this little guy over here, very scary, very cool but he actually started life in just a plain green foliage covered Rift. He was green at one point but I just took him outside. And grave him a nice spray down with some flat black spray paint.
Now, he is pretty cool looking as he is but I have this whole basket of cool goodies like Christmas ornaments that are black and orange already. And also this amazing skull, so will just take some hot glue and pop them right there on the back it looks pretty good, doesn’t it. Leave my skull alone, those pesky little things around here.
And so when you’re done you just cover the entire thing, very cool. But we have one that’s a little classy and sassy over here. Started out with foam rift, it’s just a base and then we took a feather bow and wrap it all the way around. Then you just hot glue gun it down really cute, really fun it made some creepy little spiders for it. Here’s one that’s kind of just getting started glue some black pompom’s, glued on some pipe cleaners for legs and they came out so cute.
We bend up their legs and we use these pipe cleaners that have a little puffs on it, which makes it really cool. This next one over here is my very favorite, the base of it is actually a great vine rifts, which is really cool it’s because all this kind of dead and dried out great vines. But of course hadn’t take up a notch we added some black feathers all around the edge. Because black feathers you know, they sell you Halloween like nothing.
But my favorite part about this creep is we busted out the family photo album and really customized it. we’ve got all kinds of fun pictures and they’re all in tied is really kind of cool local thing frames which you can find at the craft store.
Now the fun part about it is obviously the pictures inside. And how we got that is, we got old photos and we make black and white copies of them, if you can stand them in on your computer and print them out and them put them in the picture. You don’t want to use the real thing because the next thing were going to do is were going to put little bit of eyes on them.
Now over here you can see this little goggle eyes we would just glue them right on top it Aunt Edna here and now she looks extra creepy. A little wacky but we already about our Aunt Edna and so now this rift is so cute you can hang it, you can hang it on you’re door.
But it’s also kind of cool to hang it in the house. So that everybody can kind of take time and appreciate it and really get a good look of all the photo’s and get a good laugh about it. It’s a really fun thing to have for your family.
You can also take this idea and you can incorporate into a chandelier if you wanted. Get the same photos, put them on the front, and back sides of black matt board. Now with that matt board you could do things like burn the edges of your photo’s and make it look kind of old and creepy. And then tie a piece of rumen to the matt board and hang it from the different lens of our chandelier.
It’s nice and creepy looking and it’s get a quite little conversation starter at dinner. This year when you’re getting yourself all ready for Halloween thinking about your outfit, which you might like to wear. Don’t forget about what your door might like to wear, he wants a new pretty rift too.
