How to Make Hamburger Banana Curry

Hi, I’m Kent from Eugene. If you’ve seen my recipes before, you probably know that I like to try to mix
and match some unusual ingredients. So today, I’m going to show you how to make hamburger and
banana curry. Now those kind of ingredients sound like they’d be pretty horrible together but actually
they’re quite good so what you have to do is brown one pound of hamburger. While you’re doing that,
it’s a good idea to get your rice going about 10 minutes early. The rice will take about 20 minutes to
cook and the hamburger about 10 minutes. Surprisingly even though this is an eastern Indian recipe I
actually learned it from my British inlaws. Getting pretty close, you need to cook it until all the red is
gone and give another five minutes.
While the meat is cooking about halfway done, I’m going to grab my curry and put in about two
teaspoons full of curry sauce and you can either buy just regular curry our you can make your own curry
if you want to. It’s made out of cumin, turmeric, coriander, a few different spices like that. But if you’re
easy like me, you can buy curry power which is exactly the same thing. Two teaspoons and that gives it
that nice eastern Indian flavor. You can put in more if you like more a curry flavor or a little bit less if
you don’t like it quite so curry-ish. Now let’s incorporate that into the hamburger and the rice is about
done and so I’ll turn that off and let it steam for a minute. When your meat’s almost done, but maybe
it’s got a few minutes left to go, I turn it down to low. And now we will cut up a banana. Anybody
would think that a banana and a hamburger would be about the worst possible combination you could
possibly get but as it turns out, it really tastes good.
So get a banana, not too ripe, just about right, chop it into slices and add some raisins, some people like
more, some people like less, it’s kind of according to taste. Now all that’s left to do is to make it look
really pretty when we serve it. it’s really exotic taste. Very easy to make.
