Hi, I am Joe Trujillo with the Hospitality Training Institute and I am here to show you how to setup your home bar for a holiday party. Right now, I am going to be showing you how to identify and make a few specialty drinks for your theme.
Choosing a specialty drink actually isn't that complicated. My best recommendation is to go online or check any media outlook, the newspaper, or magazines, or just word of mouth. Your best bet is usually the narrow it down to list of about 10 or so drinks. Then about a week or so in advance, get together with a few of the guests or friends that you will be attending the party with and choose a sampling of those 10 to narrow it down to two or three. Again, I recommend going with the Martini, or a Shooter, or a Punch, or all three. It's up to you.
Right now, I am going to be showing how to make a Reindeer Martini. It's pretty simple. It's your standard Martini and all you are going to need are the following, a Martini glass, mixing tin and shaker, Frangelico, Malibu, and Cream. To make this one, first you need to fill up your mixing tin with ice, put about an ounce of Frangelico in, followed by about an ounce of Malibu. Finally, add a splash of cream. Put your top on, shake, and strain. Garnish it with the candy cane or a cinnamon stick, and there you go, a Reindeer Martini.
Next is your standard shot or the specialty drink. This one that I am going to be showing you is called the Snowball. For this you'll need mixing tin, shaker, and shot glass. In addition these, you'll also need Crème De Cacao, Peppermint Schnapps, and your choice of Brandy. All right, fill up your mixing tin with ice, pour a standard one ounce shot, put about a quarter of an ounce Crème De Cacao, pour an ounce of Peppermint Schnapps, and a quarter and an ounce of Brandy. Put your top on, give it a light shake and strain into your shot glass. And there you have it, the Snowball. Next, I'll be going over some basic bartending tips and recommendations to really make your holiday party a success.
