How to Make Homemade Frittata
Hi! I’m Jennifer Iserloh, the Skinny Chef and you’re watching Prevention’s Healthy
How-To. Today, I’m going to show you how to make a fantastic Frittata in four easy
steps. So, let’s get started.
First, we’ll start by adding six eggs to a bowl. I like to crack them right on the counter
top; that’s the easiest way to open up an egg. Next, we’ll do about a half a cup of freshly
grated parmesan. Next, a half teaspoon of salt, a quarter teaspoon of black or white
pepper. We’ll whisk that just until it’s combined. Let’s go to the stove and I’ll show the
rest.
So next, we will use an ovenproof skillet that we have already preheated. We’ll add a
little olive oil and sauté chopped onion. We’ll cook the onion until it lightly browns.
Then you’ll pour over the egg. So, you’ll cook the Frittata about seven minutes until the
edges start to brown but the center is still runny. Then you’ll slide it into a preheated 400
degree oven and bake it about four or five minutes until it is nicely browned on top.
After the Frittata is baked for about four or five minutes, and its nicely brown, we’ll start
to loosen the edges with a spatula then we’ll flip it out on to a plate. Now, you can eat
your Frittata plain just like this or you can garnish with some fresh parsley. For a Spanish
twist, you can add some chopped red bell pepper and some potato to the egg mixture or if
you want a deli special, you can add smoked salmon and low-fat cream cheese.
Now that you know how to make the basic Frittata recipe, you can be creative and make
your own flavor combos. Thanks for watching and check back next time for more
