Hello! Welcome to the home of No Better Dog Food, my name is Gail. And I'm here today to show you how to balance the K9 diet. What we’re going to do is use our product called “Batter in the Raw”, the one that we’re using today is “Batter in the Raw with Liver” we have the addition of liver in it for the Vitamin A content.
So, what we do is we start with two pounds of meat. What I'm using today is a lean ground beef. You can use any meat of your choice as long as it doesn’t have bone in it because we do have a calcium source in our powder. So, I'm using a lean ground beef. You don’t want to go anymore than 20 or 25% fat content but you do need some fat in there and what we do then is we take one and a half cups of water. This is very easy. We've done it all for you, we take a half a cup of our powder, add it to the water, whisk that in. It will become very slightly gelatinous. Okay, that’s mixed up. If you let that sit for a minute or two, it will get a little bit thick but we won’t do that today.
And we take our two pounds of meat and add it to that and mix it really well. This just takes a minute or two. If you're wanting to add vegetables, that’s your choice, you can add things like carrots and cooked beans, don’t feed being dry. You can add things like squash or pumpkin, any of the Brassica’s family is excellent, things like broccoli and cauliflower and cabbage. You can serve them raw, if you put them in a food processor, it’s really good idea and just grind them up until they're really fine. We’re not going to use vegetables today because we find that we have our—when we use our product, you don’t really need the vegetable content because we have all the nutrients of vegetables in our powder already.
Keep in mind that a dog is a wolf. It has the same DNA as a wolf. A wolf is basically a carnivore, it’s also an opportunistic scavenger but basically under ideal conditions, wolves eat meat. So, this is what we've done is we have taken the wolves wild create diet and we've tried to duplicate the nutritional content of that wild create diet in this. It has a calcium source. We've used the calcium lactate, it’s a good idea when you’re measuring these ingredients so it just stay as close as you can to what we recommend because you want to keep that balance of the calcium, phosphorus in there. Okay, so that’s all done, that’s a meal and that’s as easy as it is and if you want to make it up in really large batches we recommend that you do to make it easy on yourself. You can make it in huge batches if you want and throw it in your freezer.
What we use is freezer containers here or you can use zip lock bags whatever choice size that you need. It’s a good idea if you're using zip lock bags to flatten the bag out when you’ve got it filled and it makes it very easy to store. Okay, so now we’re going to have a taste test here, we have one of our pampered pets here and a dog this size he weighs around 24 pounds. And a 24-pound dog will eat about a half a pound of mixed per day which equals about one cup. So, that’s a portion for his size and our little pooch here is—he is a rescued dog from the SPCA, he is a—Highland Terrier cross.
Okay, come on Lanky up here and we’ll show them how you like this, hey there. It doesn’t take long for my kid to polish off his food. Good boy, it’s gone and that is how you balance raw dog food. Thank you.
