What name would be more fitting for an exotic drink than the Hula Hula?

Aloha and welcome to the Cocktail Spirit from Small Screen Network. I’m your host Robert Hess.

Don The Beachcomb started his Tiki bars back in the 1930s and one of his first bartenders was Raymond Bonner. Now he was a Filipino and he was a prideful bartender making a lot of really great drinks. The drink we’re going to do today is called the Hula Hula, it’s from Raymond, and it dates in 1934. It’s a really simple drink to make. We start off with 1ounce orange juice, oh that’s too much; it’s always important to measure. One ounce of orange Curacao, and 1 ounce of gin. You often think of rum as being the base spirit for most of these exotic cocktails but that’s not always the case. There are other drinks use brandy, and gin and stuff like that so any spirit really works well. Now we add ice, shake it up. Drop the ice out of our glass. Strain the drink in and garnish with pineapple and cherry. And there we have the Hula Hula cocktail.
