This is Robert Foxton again. I like to talk a little bit about product safety and I say a hydrogen generator. Do not do this at home kids, hydrogen generators on.
For those of you who are interested in air pollution, you may think this is an air polluting sources but it is really re-generable, it re-grows from the ground so it is not a net pollution source. But this is source of fire and with the generator on, I am going to take this balloon which is a hydrogen-filled balloon up in the ceiling of my generator. And I am going to poke it with this lit cigar so you will see how dangerous hydrogen really is.
Do not try this at home, this is a mini-version of the Hindenburg were going to deal. All the humanity of them all, the humanity. Now, you may have notice there was not an explosion but something important did happen, the cigar went out. Well, that is one up. see, hydrogen is such a good heat transfer material, it sucks the heat right out of almost everything you have got so you did not have a fire. Let us put up my cigar. There we go.
Remember do not try this at home and there are versions of this experiment that will give you a nice bang but I did not want to show that hydrogen was not quite as dangerous as you might think it was.
