How to Make Melt and Pour Soap

My name is Pam and today we’re going to clean up our act with Melt and Pour Soap. The materials that you’ll need today are Melt and Pour Soap. You can purchase this at local crafts store or online. They usually come an inner clearer white blocks. This is also a clear gel based. This is from a ten pound block.
Coloring, make sure that you’re using of sub-coloring and not food dye. We don’t want to stain your skin. You can find this at local crafts store. Soap molds; this can purchased at crafts store or you can use candy molds like the ones that I have here. I found this at a cake decorating shop.
Fragrances; be careful of the type of fragrance you’re using. Some may irritate skin. These are found at local crafts stores. Some household items you’ll need are; a knife, a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol and cling wrap. If you want some extra post zest, you can add plastic trinkets to your soap. Now, let’s clear the table and head down to the craftster kitchen.
Today I’m going to make this cute little duck in a pond. And to do that, the first thing I’m going to do is cut it my soap into little chunks. I’ve already done that, so I’m going to go ahead and put it in this bowl. You can either melt it in a double boiler or microwave. I’m going to cook it in a microwave because it’s much easier. Before I melt of my soap, I want to take a piece of cling wrap and cover it up so, no excess moisture will escape. You only want to cook it for about 20 to 30 seconds at a time. Otherwise, your soap becomes smelly and it can have too many bubbles.
I’m going to check and see all my soap is melted yet. I do that with a magic spoon and check on it. It’s still a bit lumpy, so I’m going to put it in for another 30 seconds. Let’s check one more time. Be careful it may be hot. Grab my spoon again, perfect. Now, let’s add some fragrance. So, today I’m going to add our fragrance and you want to start off with just a few drops and then add a little bit more. Depending on how strong you want the scent. Again make sure that these don’t irritate your skin. If you want it stronger, you can add more. Hmm, that smells good. Let me take my spoon and mix it up.
We’re going to add some coloring. So, you do that just like you do with the fragrance. A few drops at a time and then if you want it darker, add a few more. Mix that up and see if it’s the right color that you want. I need a little darker. Looks good, my color is ready and its time to pour. Take your soap and pour it about halfway in because you’re going to let it set up a little bit when you can your duck. I have a few bubbles in here, so I’m going to take my alcohol and get them off.
To make this set up a little bit faster, I’m going to throw it in the freezer for a few minutes. It’s set up and ready for my duck and second layer. So, now I’m going to add my cute little duck. Put him right in the middle, take my soap if its starts getting hard again you can throw it in a microwave for a few seconds and pour it in there to the top. Now, if it slows a little bit, it’s okay. It’s just soap. Let’s put it back in the freezer to have it bit hard. There, it’s already and now I’m going to pop it out of my mold and to do that use is really easily, lift the edges and it comes right off. There we go. He has a little friend.
