Male Speaker: This is Harriet. Harriet is Tracy's new pup. In addition to having Sammers, Tracy now has Harriet. Harriet is a Golden Retriever mix with some other dogs. We're not quite sure what. But she comes from - she is a rescue dog. She is from a shelter in Central Missouri called Diana's Grove, which you found on the website.
Female Speaker: Yeah, petfinder.com.
Male Speaker: petfinder.com, where you can find all sorts of great dogs. I mean I have the pure breed Labradors and they are great. But they are a lot of work. They need to be run everyday, they're outdoor working dogs.
So I am really suggesting for everyone that if you want a pup, wow! Get a shelter pup like this guy. Girl! I mean they are just, they are great. Looks naughty like about that.
Anyway, today we're on visit to my parents for the holidays and we're going to go and make meatloaf at mom's house I love meatloaf and I love my mom's meatloaf. It's just one of those other comfort foods that I like.
So we're going to go over there. Tracy is going to run the camera I think Harriet is going to stay in the crate while we do it. But we'll have fun. So it's called Petfinder and she is from Diana's Grove and there are super nice people over there at Diana's Grove by the way. Excellent website I thought. Go on the treat?
Female Speaker: No, maybe not.
Male Speaker: Alright, ready? Here we go. Hey everyone! So here we're at mom's kitchen. Hello mom?
Female Speaker: Hi.
Male Speaker: I came to visit the family homestead for holidays, Christmas. Lynn went to see her mom, I came here, and I was on the plane, and I thought let's make meatloaf, because I love mom's meatloaf and I called mom, and I said, can we make meatloaf, and she said sure. So here we are.
Female Speaker: Yeah, here we are. We have ground chuck.
Male Speaker: So ground chuck is different than just regular ground beef.
Female Speaker: Yeah, it's a piece of meat that you cook.
Male Speaker: If I was Chris Kimball, I'd have a little chart right here and wear a bowtie.
Female Speaker: Yeah.
Male Speaker: Does it have a higher fat content in it? Okay and fat is good by the way because your brain is made of fat. So I have a big brain.
Female Speaker: That's where some cat head comes from.
Male Speaker: Maybe.
Female Speaker: And we've got ground pork to go with the ground chuck.
Male Speaker: Now, mom usually doesn't put pork into her meatloaf. So we were at the store, and I said, hey, what about putting pork in it?
Female Speaker: Nice! It's fat.
Male Speaker: Because, I've used these different recipes obviously. I have seen at the store where they have, it's called meatloaf mix, and I think there is veal, pork, and ground beef.
Female Speaker: Yeah.
Male Speaker: Oh! We've got to get a shot of this. This is my father once again, saving eggshells.
Female Speaker: Yes. It's who know why?
Male Speaker: That has a couple of strips of baking in it. And you wonder, the influence is on my life. So we have a pound of pork, and some ground beef in there, and we're going to put an egg in there.
Female Speaker: Two eggs.
Male Speaker: Two eggs.
Male Speaker: We're going to save the eggshells for auto.
Female Speaker: That's right. I don't want to be accused of throwing them out. Then I'm going to put in the Italian Breadcrumb.
Female Speaker: Not plain breadcrumbs?
Female Speaker: No.
Male Speaker: So these are spiced breadcrumb there.
Female Speaker: Yeah. They give it a little bit of --
Male Speaker: So that's about a cup maybe?
Female Speaker: Three-quarters of a cup.
Male Speaker: My understanding is you don't want to overwork the meatloaf. Is that true?
Female Speaker: Yeah, that's very true. You just want to get it mixed up, and the eggs, haven't really.
Male Speaker: Bind, because Tracy said it's a binding agent.
Female Speaker: Yeah. It's a binding agent.
Male Speaker: Tracy has a degree in food, we don't know.
Female Speaker: That's right.
Male Speaker: So we do what she says.
Female Speaker: Exactly true. Do we want some cream of mushroom soup in it?
Male Speaker: Is that what you usually do?
Female Speaker: No, not really.
Male Speaker: Alright.
Female Speaker: How about a little bit of brown sugar or ketchup or --
Female Speaker: Oh, yeah, yeah. This is what Rachel Ray does.
Male Speaker: She has kind of gotten glamor around her, hasn't she?
Female Speaker: Yeah, I think so.
Male Speaker: I like -- she seems like a down to earth person, but there is a lot of kind of glam now, nice dress or something.
Female Speaker: Yeah.
Male Speaker: And look at me.
Female Speaker: Well, you look nice, lovely.
Male Speaker: I am wearing the same cloths, I did yesterday mom.
Female Speaker: On Christmas Day, when you carried that upset --
Male Speaker: So we have a great garlic looking here.
Female Speaker: And on whiskershire.
What I really love is meatloaf sandwiches.
Female Speaker: Yeah.
Male Speaker: After you are having meatloaf, that's about it.
Female Speaker: That's funny.
Male Speaker: That's what you saw there. Right?
Female Speaker: Yeah.
Male Speaker: Okay. That's too much.
Female Speaker: Well, that's okay. I do about quarter-cup, so that's quite right. I think my mom is going to like it.
Male Speaker: What do you think?
Female Speaker: Mom is going to like it.
Make Speaker: Alright. That smells like mom's. It smells like home. This is cooking, you come home. I love meatloaf.
Female Speaker: And I only have the brown meat ready for me.
Male Speaker: That's right, let me show you. Whatever, I come here.
Female Speaker: We still full in our --
Male Speaker: So this was full when I came here. We're saving that for the mystery man.
Female Speaker: 24 hours and 9 by 30.
Male Speaker: It's just browning, so we're going to put two loafs in here.
Female Speaker: Yeah, I think so.
Male Speaker: Okay. So it's kind of like bread dough, we're going to cut it in half, and now just shape them.
Female Speaker: Shape it. I've never put brown sugar in it. So that should taste a little bit different. And I don't usually put outstature whiskershire.
Female Speaker: What about onion?
Female Speaker: Onion, I forgot the onion. Oh well, that's alright.
Male Speaker: Alright, in the oven?
Female Speaker: In the oven, please?
Male Speaker: Sure.
Female Speaker: Which is not used for storage?
Male Speaker: I am not using that for storage. Alright, so that goes for an hour, and then we're going.
Female Speaker: We're eating.
Male Speaker: Alright, great. So the timer with 3 minutes to go. So we're going to check it. Wow! That's meatloaf.
Female Speaker: That's the meatloaf.
Male Speaker: Look at that ketchup, I like this cultural ketchup.
Female Speaker: Yeah you did a good job on that. Yeah I would say it's done. Yeah. So what do we want to do now?
Male Speaker: We might want to get that power tool away from dad. I know. That's why I wanted to get the power tool away from him now. Alright so ground beef pork.
Female Speaker: We know it's very well. Smells good.
Male Speaker: Smells great. This is like comfort food. Right?
Female Speaker: Yeah.
Male Speaker: It's great.
Female Speaker: Very good.
Male Speaker: It tastes like mom to me.
Female Speaker: Very good. I like it with the coconut.
Male Speaker: Yeah.
Female Speaker: I have to do that more open.
Male Speaker: Alright. So there we go. Thanks for running the camera Deb.
Female Speaker: Yeah.
Male Speaker: We could have some beer soon. So come to the Green House, tell us your meatloaf story. I want to hear, green-house.tv, adopt a dog from rescue, we got Tracy a new dog.
Female Speaker: Oh, how nice.
