Male Speaker: Hi everyone, welcome back to Le Gourmet TV. Today in the kitchen we are going to be making a pear cake recipe, and the first thing that I need to do is peel, cut and core these pears. Okay, now that the pears are all prepared and ready to go, next thing is to take our flour here, and we are going to mix in some ground cinnamon, some baking powder, and some salt, and you just want to use a wire whisk and make sure that those are mixed together really well.
Now for the exact quantities in the recipe, if you are on Le Gourmet TV, click the link below and a separate page is going to open that you can look at while you are watching the video, and on there is the recipe. If you are not on Le Gourmet TV, and you are watching this on one of our syndication partners, come on back to Le Gourmet TV and get the recipe.
So our flour mixture is ready, so we are just going to sit that aside for a moment and we are going to move on to the butter. So I have got some butter here straight out of the fridge, it is still pretty cold, and that's going to go into our stand mixture, and I have got sugar. So what we want to do is, cream the sugar and the butter together. So, on low to start, because you don't want everything to fly everywhere.
So you just want to scrape down the sides of your bowl. You want to make sure that you get it all mixed together completely. It's looking good, just a couple of more seconds. Now the butter and sugar are creamed together, so I have got a couple of eggs, and you just want to add one egg at a time to get that first egg incorporated and then add the second.
Time for the second egg, and again, about halfway through you want to scrape down the sides of your bowl and make sure that you have got everything mixed together well. So those ingredients are all mixed together, and this next step I am not going to do with the stand mixture, I am just going to use the spoon. We have got a really nice mixture here of butter, egg and sugar, and what you want to do, is take your flour mixture and put a third of it into the bowl, and then mix this by hand.
Once you add the flour, you don't want to over work it. Great, and we put in the rest, so the batter is all mixed together. Next step, I have got a tube pan here that I have coated the inside with butter, and I am going to take my pears and try my best to artfully arrange them.
Great, so I have got most of the pears at the bottom of the pan. In goes the batter. And just try to spread the batter evenly. and then on top of this, I just put some more pear. So my oven is preheated to 350. I am just going to pop this in for about an hour. or until of course a knife inserted comes out clean. That's a good looking cake. and it smells fantastic.
So we will just let it cool down a little while. and then we will flip it around to the plate. And there you go, pear cake. Give this one a try, and I hope you will enjoy it. Thanks for stopping by, and I'll see you again soon.
