Daisy: Drew, once the pizza is baking, we got some time to tell these boys, what do we do with them?
Drew Closs: I think Daisy, we are going to make root beer.
Daisy: How do you make root beer?
Drew Closs: You know what there is a lot of kits out there that you can just buy online, and everything that you needed is in it. Has your bottle, has tops, has all the ingredients, might some little bit of sugar that we are going to put in here.
Female Speaker: In making root beer.
Female Speaker: A little warm water and yeast, will give this brew its bubble, but it's a sugar, that really gets the action started.
Drew Closs: Yeast is just like us, you know what it likes to eat?
Female Speaker: Sugar.
Male Speaker: Sugar.
Drew Closs: Root beer flavoring. Now, we are going to feed him. Now they are eating, they are very happy. So, I am going to stir them around a bit. The yeast loves sugar, so it eats the sugar and it burps. And it creates a lot of bubbles, and all of those bubbles gets trapped here in this bottle, and guess what, that's your kid's root beer.
Female Speaker: But building up all that gas takes time. Three days to be exact, so this is a perfect take home gift, and how do you know it's ready, just give it a good squeeze.
Drew Closs: Right now, if you squeeze it, and it goes in real easy, but in a couple of days after all that pressure builds up inside, and you kind of push on it and it's not going to be able to go and that's when we know it's ready. And we are going to keep it in dark, cool place. You know the other fun thing stuff, this as a take home is you get some labels, take a picture of everybody and then you can print that right out and put a label on here. So, it's kind of Reuben's Brew Beer.
Melissa: That will be an awesome party flavor, taking the pictures and all the great suggestions that Chef Drew had about that, I wouldn't have thought of any of that.
