I am a strong believer and you do not need to spend $3,000 to get a fancy highlight film made that has got the music, and the bells and the whistles. I believe that if you have good strong clips of your play that you can put them together. I like to see only about 10 to 15 minutes tops of clips. I do not want to see the same shot 45 times in slow motion. I would like to see you on the offensive end of the field. I would like to see you in transition. I would like to see you on the defensive end of the field. I would like to see player lose the ball and then battle back and get it back. I would like to see actually if players want to send a first half of the game or something like that, that is okay too and I think for every college coach, it is a little bit different.
So I strongly encourage players to email or contact college coaches, ask them what they want. Some coaches want full games sent. Some coaches want 10 minutes, they cannot sit still that long so they just want only 10 minutes of highlight film. Ask college coaches what they are looking for.
Most of the time nowadays, your highlight films are sent on DVDs. So that is something that a coach can pop into a computer quickly. Again for me personally, I do not need all the bells and the whistles. I think most college coaches want to see you in action, want to your see your stick skills, want to see your speed, want to see your athleticism, want clips that are going to show us what you are doing and how you are contributing to you team. We do not necessarily need to see you kind of standing behind the cage and looking for somebody to pass to. We want to be able to see you dodge, we want to see you feed, we want to see you pick up ground balls, get out of a double team, close a double team.
Your shooting style is very important. Your defensive style, your defensive positioning. For goalies, you guys are in good shape, you can really make a good strong highlight film from a lot of your saves, your clears, even when the ball goes in. We want to see how you react to that. Stay very positive, that is what I think is something important. For me, is to be able to find somebody that is going to be stand still, video tape your games, zoom in a little bit. I do not want to see you in a mini, mini, and tinitiny on the video clips. But I do not think that spending $2,000 on a highlight video is really where you need to go.
