How to Make Rose Petal. Art of the Drink 29

[Music Playing] Anthony: Welcome to the art of the drink video Podcast. My name is Anthony Caporale [banging sound] and this week, I am thrilled to be working with my sister-in-law Nora, how are you honey? Nora: Hi, how are you? Anthony: Good! So, for those of you who followed the blog, you know that in November, we are doing a special AOTD on the roads series. And this week, I am visiting with my family to celebrate the birth of my new niece and godchild Brianna Rose. Congratulations on that. Nora: Thank you! Anthony: [Laughing] so in honor of Brianna, and also because the holidays are coming up, I want kind of go a little bit off the bit in path here and do a non-alcoholic drink also known as a virgin drink. Nora: Right. Anthony: And this is a drink that I created for Brianna that I call a Rose Petal, Brianna Rose, and it is a great drink for the holidays because I am sure you know, when you go to restaurants with the family, you go up to the server or wherever you are before dinner, waiting for a table and you ask for a drinks and the kids want a drink. What do you always get when you ask the bartender for non-alcoholic drink? Shirley temple, Roy Rogers right? And for those who do not know what is in Shirley Temple and Roy Rogers, it is basically soda with sweet and syrup in it and a lot of kid and parents rather do not like to serve the kids right? Nora: Yes. [Laughing] Anthony: They do not like to give them a lot of soda, especially with all the caffeine and stuff in it. So, this is a drink that I actually sell a lot of when I am working and it is an old juice drink. Now, I would love to see this drink it can take the place of the Shirley Temple and the Roy Rogers. The nice thing about those is you can also make it at home. Almost any bar that you go into is going to have the ingredients for this. So, if you ask them for the drink and you tell them how to make it, they will make it for you. You can also like I said, make it at home for parties, dinners that kind of thing. All right so, let us start with a nice kids glass and we have a nice Disney thin glass here and just like every drink that I make, I am going to start by filling it all the way with ice, right? [Ice pouring] First thing I am going to put in this drink is two ounce of orange juice and at this point, we are already more healthy than Shirley Temple right? We follow with two ounces of pineapple juice, and then two ounces of cranberry juice. And this is basically all of your standard bar juices except for grape fruit juice. Every bar you go into is just going to have these three juices and I do not put grape fruit juice in this because I find it is a little bitter for kids. Now, the next thing that I put in it is one ounce of milk. The beautiful about this is you can use regular whole milk. You can use low fat milk. You can use non-fat milk. You can use half and half, whatever you want. The texture is going to be a little richer. The more milk fat, Nora: Right. Anthony: That you use, Nora: Okay. Anthony: Okay, but if you want just completely non-fat healthy drink, you can use non-fat milk and this seems it terrific. Now, I am going to take this and roll it to my tin, and I am going to shake this drink. Now folks that follow that Podcast you know that when I make drinks with dairy products, I usually -- if the drink has to be shaken, I usually shake the drink before I add the milk with the cream or the half and half in that is to keep the drink from frothing up too much. In this drink though, there is not a lot of milk relative to the rest of the ingredients and I want the drink to get frothy. So, it tastes like a blended drink. That is why put the milk in first. Now, I am going to shake this drink up really-really well and it is going to give it the texture almost of a blended drink and that is what I am going for. [Shaking Sound] Now, you can see when I take this out how beautiful this drink is going to look. It is creamy. It is frothy. It is got a beautiful light pink color to it. It is got a nice big foamy head, kids just love it.
