Melissa: Well then, that just makes me feel so much better.
Anthony: That is why we had you back.
Melissa: I am special.
Anthony: I know.
Melissa: Great.
Anthony: So the next episode that you see will be our one year anniversary episode so what we wanted to do was end this first year with a special drink that is, I am dedicating this to the Samuels family, Bill Samuels senior and Bill Samuels junior and their whole family.
Bill Samuel: They got this brilliant idea and they have no idea how to execute it but if you have the idea. I wonder what would happen if we could take the bitterness our bourbon.
Anthony: They are the founders of Makers Mark Bourbon, my favorite bourbon so I will go ahead and dedicate this drink to them and this is also a drink that I would like to get out there for people who are getting a little bit tired of the cosmopolitan, the piquet’s long suffering cosmopolitan. Get a little longer on the tooth and I want to start proposing some recipes that maybe you can try instead of that and specifically the cosmo for some reason has gotten a reputation as being kind of a girls drink. Even though it is really, really strong but it has. I think a certain HBO TV series has had something to do with that so what I want to do is present a version that is certainly not a guys drink but a drink that if you are not comfortable ordering a pink cosmo. Maybe you could order a red Samuels, and I am calling this drink the Samuels and it is base on traditional cosmo ingredients. What most people do not realize though is that cranberry and I have done several drinks like this, cranberry goes better in my opinion it goes better with bourbon than it does with vodka. All vodka does is really make alcohol a cranberry juice. Bourbon actually adds flavor and the flavors work really well so the Samuels is based on bourbon so let us go ahead and make that.

Now this is a martini drink.
Melissa: I love the glass it has some swirls on it.
Anthony: Is not that great?
Melissa: That is awesome.
Anthony: So we are going to go ahead and set our glassware first and because it is a martini, we are going to build it in a tin, big scoop of ice in the tin.
Melissa: I think squiggles make drinks funner anyways even though the taste is not good it always does because of the glass tin.
Anthony: I think squiggles make everything funner.
Melissa: Me too.
Anthony: Big scoop of ice on the tin and I am going to put two ounces of Makers Mark Bourbon in here. All right, I am going to add now, one half ounce instead of triple sect, I will go ahead and use Grand Marnier so one half ounce of Grand Marnier and where triples is sect essentially just a sweetened citrus liquor. Grand Marnier actually has a cognac base which works better on my mind with bourbon and also adds the orange flavor. All right, so half ounce of Grand Marnier and half ounce of cranberry juice and again just a splash. Also for a little bit of added flavor and to brighten it up I will take a wedge of fresh lime, squeeze that right in. all right, I am going to just drop it in there and I am going to shake this until the tin frosts. Shake it until the tin frosts.
Melissa: Have you been working out?
[Demo]
Anthony: Okay, cocktail strainer and this is going to strain that lime wedge back out of the drink but keep all the flavor in, right up to the top and I am going to garnish this drink with a lemon twist which you have seen me do before. Nice big lemon and I am going to twist right over the drink so all the essential oils, you can see thos
