Hey everyone, I am Eric Rochow and this is Real World Green. Today, kind of the fun one. I mean Real World Green is always fun, right? But this is one where you can get your hands dirty, alright? Is there an empty lot nearby you or a patch of ground that's kind of ugly looking and you are thinking, oh, it just doesn't look really nice.
Well, here's how we can spruce it up. Seed bombs or seed grenades, sometimes people call them, but it's really quite simple. You take some seeds, these are sunflowers from Fedco Seed, a really cool seed company up in Maine, and then you take some dirt and you mix these together. I don't know if I can do this. You basically take the dirt and you get it really wet, and then you put the seeds in the dirt. So the seeds and the dirt are together here.
Well this is a little not wet enough, but you want a big basically mud ball, you've got the seeds in there, maybe you could put a little compost in there as well, and then you let these dry. And then when they're all dry, you go over to this lot and it's probably get a chain-link fence around there or something like that. And you take these and you pitch up into the yard or the lot or whatever it is. And a little rain will go and hopefully they'll grow. If they don't grow maybe the birds will eat the seeds and that would be good anyway.
But you can also just direct so, I mean if you can get to the lot or a part of the fence, you can scratch the soil, just pour your seeds in and there you go. It's like guerrilla gardening, guerrilla greening in a way. But if there is a lot, let's have some sunflowers, let's have some native white flowers or something. Sunflowers are pretty resilient, white flowers are little hard to get a start.
But you what I mean, take this, go. Alright? So tell me what you think. Have you done this before? Do you have a good recipe for mud? You're kids are going to like this. Playing with mud, there is nothing like.
Alright, buy our shirts if you'd like one please. Real World Green. I kind of like the design and it's got the hooded, the Eric hood. My wife thinks about that. But anyway you know what I mean. Seed Bombs, seed grenades, it's awesome. Green Up your neighborhood. Alright, make it a great day. I'll see you.
