Hello YouTuber. This is maru2194 making a video how to create silhouettes in AdobePhotoshop. Okay so, here in this tutorial I will also introduce you to the Quick Selection Tool but well, let’s begin
Now we have to open the image we want to make this silhouette, so I have here this bird one. Okay, so what we is to select a bird in this case or your image or the thing you want to silhouette, select it. We have various methods, one can be the extract filter going to filter extract. Another one could be the Magnetic Lasso Tool and the other one could be the magic one tool or the other is the one that I’m introducing to you, that’s the Quick Selection Tool. This comes in Adobe CS3 only and in CS3 Extended, I think so.
Well, what this Quick Selection Tool does is that you only have to paint and automatic disk will select the things you want, okay? There you go. Well. Let’s say this is what I want, but anyways, if you have a image like mine that has solid color, as vibrant and different ones, this only has the blue one, you can use the Magic Lasso Tool with the tolerance between 30 and 50 and here on the background, onto the solid color of the background, this will happen. Well, when that happens, this will appear, let me zoom in to show you.
Okay so, there you go. Here, you can see that it has selected the side part, but let me delete that and that will delete the background. But what I want is to select the inverse so let me do a little bit and with this selected, I’ll select inverse and that will select the bird. .Now you can see that if I hit delete, the bird will disappear. Well, now that I have the thing selected, the silhouette selected, the thing they want to be silhouetted, I have to create a new layer and select my program, color to be black, the hexadecimal code is 0000000, very simple.
Now, it the foreground colored black selected, just hit Alt or Option in the Mac, and Backspace or Delete on Mac and there you go. If we deselect over here, you can see that here we have our silhouette. And this silhouette can be made very quickly, maybe you could have it on every difficult photo or try doing your best—this is only to show you. Now another thing, now that we have those silhouette we can add it to an image, so here I have an amazing image. So there you go. Here I have this image. But I want to make like the bird go over here, so what I will do is draft the layer of the silhouette over this image and here I can adjust with Control T, that’s the pre-transformed tool. I can adjust the size and everything, let’s say I want the image to be this big, and over here. So I hit Enter to commit the transformation and there you go, here we have our image.
Another tip I can give is—let me draft this again, we can rotate the image. You can see over here well. There is a specific tool, going to Edit, Transform, and flip horizontal, there you go and here we can make like one seagull going over here also, we can maybe make these a little bit smaller, let’s make this proportional hitting the Shift key and there you go.
So, here what we have done is to make silhouettes of any image you have and draft them over another image to make this image look a little better. We can maybe with this background selected, go to filter and well, go to filter gallery and then we can kind of choose one cool thing for our background, for this moment maybe we can make—well, anyways, here in filter gallery you can choose tons of them, as you can see. So, have the one you prefer, and when you finished, here’s the things I have tons of files over here. So, there you go. Here I have selected these Dark Smokes, very cool effect, hit okay. So what we’ve done is to made the image look cooler with some silhouettes and filter effect.
So let’s review what we’ve done. First we selected the things we wanted to make a silhouette. Then we create a layer and paint it black. Then we drag it over the image we want and we fix it to make it cooler. And after that, we simply resize or adjust with some filters or anything you want to make this really, really cool.
