Now most cocktails have three important characteristics that balanced each other out. First your liqueur which brings straight and heat to your drink, then tartness from a citrus juice or a bitter takes some edge off. And finally the sweetness that comes from your liqueur or simple syrup which mellows out the tartness creating a great well balanced cocktail.
Now you can buy processed mixers that had already combined the juice and the sugar. But this had all kinds of artificial additives that names of which I can’t even pronounced. Plus the sugar content is sky high and finally the flavor just isn’t that great. So the solution, simple, simple syrup that is.
I’m going to give you the secret recipe so pay attention.
You want to use sugar and water that’s it now you know why it’s called simple syrup take equal parts of sugar and water bring it to a boil and stir until the sugar dissolves then you cool it cover it and store in the fridge for about a month. The home made simple syrup and fresh citrus juice you can control the sugar in your drinks. Your drinks will have a brighter, fresher flavor turning them into great cocktails.
