Hey everybody, this is Emeek77 with another motion tutorial for you and I got a request. How to work with audio and motion? So, let me fire up motion here. And I’m going to bring this logo that was made for me. I appreciate that, thank you very much. I’m going to center this up here and scale it up a little bit, like so, okay.
Now, I’m going to go to my file browser and I’ve got some audio here that I’ve got already set up. I’m going to take this audio, first of all, I’m going to take my logo and line it up to begin in here, put my play head at the beginning, take my audio and just drag and drop within my scene. Now, you’ll see my mini time line turns green; that’s my audio and if I go to my audio tab, you’ll see it right here.
So now, I want my logo to bounce with the music or you know it could be a equalizer, it could anything you want to be, I’m just using this logo for demonstration purposes. So, I’m going to select my logo. I’m going to go up to behavior, parameter behavior. Now, these parameter behaviors are one of the things that make the motion so powerful. We’re going to use the audio parameter. That throws the audio parameter behavior onto my logo. So, I go to go inspector, go to my behavior’s tab and you’ll see my audio tab right here with all these buttons and stuff.
Now, I’m not going to explain all of them to you, just when you need to get back. There’s a source audio box; what I’m going to do is, I’m going to go to my audio tab, I’m going to drag that source audio into that box; you’ll see a little arrow comes up and show you that’s going to go in. And when it does, it has this little audio graph will show up and if you play it, you’ll see that little audio things bounce. So, let me turn my volume up here, okay.
Now, let’s see here, what else is there to do. I’m going to go down here to apply to, I’m going to go go, now there will be a properties and you can apply this behavior to anything you want, from transform to blending to drop shadows to crops to four corners. I’m going to go to transform and I can pick rotation, scale, shear, anchor point. I want to pick scale and all, as you can see I can scale any particular aspect I wazXnt. I’ll pick all like that right there.
Now, what this is going to do is, it’s going to tell the motion to bounce my scale parameter to this audio graph frequencies that I have selected out. So, I’m going to bring this audio selection together here like this and just kind of zero in on a specific frequency so I can demonstrate this. This is the frequency you want it to bounce on. So, whenever the frequency gets within this range it’s when it’s going to be reacting, okay. So now, when I hit play, you see that thing? When it goes rerrr it makes that funny noise, it scales itself up.
Okay, we can adjust our frequency and make it even more. So, let’s fix our frequency to where it just scrolls up when the music jams in there real heavy. So, let’s see what I can come up with here. Let’s adjust this around until you get kind of what you’re looking for. Let’s see if this does anything. Yeah, it didn’t start until that big bump, but we want it to kind of bounce all the time, so I can demonstrate this a little bit.
So, let me go to my properties and scale it down, so it won’t be over taken the edge. Let’s go back to my behaviors. And as you can see, it’s kind of bouncing on the symbol.
So there, these all kinds, you can get it to bounce to the bass drum, the snare drum, the cymbals. I mean, you just got to zero out your frequency and you’ve got it made. Let’s open our frequency up even a little bit more. say right here and notice how fast it is to analyze.
Yeah, that’s a pretty good demonstration of how things work. Now this here, the scale parameters how much it’s going to scale and you can have the peak sharp or smooth, however you want to do it, just the ceiling, floor, these are just sliders to help you adjust this instead of doing it manually here.
So, that’s how you get your audio bounce to your music. It’s that simple. So, if you need to, go back and check it out, you just go to apply behavior and click a couple of drop down menus, set your audio frequency and you’re good to go. I hope you’ve learned something, we’ll see you guys next time.
